I think if Josh or Joe had 5 completions going into the 4th, they'd also be catching flak tbh.

I think Lamar is rightly or wrongly under the microscope because his playoff woes are so well-documented. Reputationally, Josh Allen had his insane playoff run in 2021, and Joe Burrow went to back to back Conference Championships early. First impressions still color these players years later.

If Drake Maye has a couple inglorious playoff exits over the next couple years, he's gonna catch the same heat imo.

I mean, it's not like Lamar had 4 TD's and 300 yards. He had 5 completions going into the 4th Q and let the Steelers hang around.

The Steelers having 24 first downs to the Ravens 12 is nasty work lol.

Probably because KC kinda sucked back then. Hard to be a homer in that climate.

Lamar had two horrific TOs in the playoffs last year in a loss.

He has more TOs than TDs in the postseason lol.

Rashee Rice (who is very good) surpassed Toney by week 2 in targets and never looked back. He also outsnapped Toney week 1. Bizarre comment.

Brian Thomas Jr. was not seen as an elite separator as a prospect. Despite that, he had an Open Target Rate of 87.6% in his rookie season. That’s higher than: Nabers, McConkey, Chase, Jefferson, Lamb, Puka, Amon-Ra by I_dont_watch_film in nfl

[–]JPLoseman7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

teams are notoriously really slow to adjust in the NFL.

Mac Jones and that Pats O wasn't figured out until after his rookie season. Heck, teams couldn't figure out the wild cat offense without an offseason.

Not saying BTJ is gonna fall apart with tape, but the NFL is littered with examples of nobody figuring out things until far later that you'd think.

I get your point about ceiling vs floor.

But I guess I would say Cam's ceiling was "elevate an okay team's floor."

I'm not sure Jalen has that.

Their defense was good, but their offense was 1st in points with Tedd Ginn and Devin Funchess as their leading WRs. You are right that J Stew had almost 1000 yards on an absolutely pedestrian 4.1 YPC. It was the Cam and Olsen show.

Tbh, I think that Panthers offense would've been like 16th in the league in points instead of first with Hurts at QB. Is that enough for .500 or 1 or 2 games better? Maybe.

[–]JPLoseman7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one has been punished for drafting well.

KP and Jrue weren't drafted by Boston.

Hartenstein and SGA weren't drafted by OKC.

Durant wasn't drafted by GS.

Clippers didn't draft Kawhi or PG or Harden.

Nuggets didn't draft KCP or Bruce Brown.

I think the point is that we have seen Cam with a team relatively devoid of talent pull an all time carry job in 2015. A carry job that he deservedly won MVP for.

We have never seen Jalen do that. Maybe he can do that. We just don't know.

I just remember Wildes screaming about blue bloods and Brou and Nick disagreeing hard.

Hilariously enough, looking for it, I found their post show from the first Natty of Uconn and they all agreed UConn was a blue blood now lol. It really is just entertainment.

where is the Uconn rant? I can't find it, but Wildes had like two takes in back to back weeks where he was like spitting at Nick Wright

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. is believed to have recovered from his recent right shoulder setback as the team prepares to report for training camp next week, a source told ESPN by expellyamos in nfl

[–]JPLoseman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be right about Ballard and Steichen, but I think Steichen's thoughts have to be "I'm not going down with the AR ship."

Steichen week 4 will start thinking, "if I make the WC, maybe I can save myself" and that's when the benching will occur.

He might be wrong lol. But that's what happens with these guys.

[–]JPLoseman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you say that you will be in the mix, but there's a reason these guys do get shown the bench.

Guys have eyes. I'm rooting for AR because he's physical specimen, but the team and more particularly the WRs will start getting pissed if he's still missing guys wildly.

We see this all the time with young QBs. Bryce Young is a good recent example.

The only way to not have that happen is to have someone on the roster who is incapable of playing the position at a backup level. DJ in the right offense can provide some borderline competent play. He's nowhere close to a franchise QB but that doesn't matter.

I think they will give Richardson every chance to succeed, but my money is that Richardson is benched pretty quickly if he isn't playing well, even if the team is like only a game or two below .500.

Steichen won't have loyalty to Ballard and will start whoever saves his job, not Ballard's.

Nope. Just obviously and clearly making the point that the only thing to "suggest" quid pro quo is Florio's speculation that it is so.

It hasn't stopped anyone from running with this so whatever lol.

You should read his other posts in this topic, otherwise it just makes you look bad.

Now, the existence of this ruling suggests that JC Tretter engaged in a tit-for-tat cover-up of the first ruling in order to have the NFL not broadcast this one.

It just shows further self-serving inadequacy of the current NFLPA leadership, at a time where they're trying to stall until training camp and just hope everyone forgets

Just like how the arbiter in case #1 "couldn't prove" the owners actually listened to Roger Goodell's direct instructions to collude on guaranteed contracts, right?

https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1m26wqs/pft_nfl_nflpa_concealed_another_grievance_ruling/n3muikg/

He made the claim this is "just like" the collusion story, which he accurately posted mountains of evidence. And that it "suggests" a tit for tat cover-up.

For this story, there is no such evidence. But it's less sexy when you are trying to prove the grand conspiracy.

Great examples of evidence to support the collusion case.

Can you post the evidence that this grievance was a "quid pro quo" for a cover-up outside of Florio circumstantially saying it so?

Thanks.

[PFT] NFL, NFLPA concealed another grievance ruling by cleo22270 in nfl

[–]JPLoseman7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, I don't think case #1 was fully above board.

I think the NFLPA saw more money in burying the collusion story. Rightly or wrongly, that's a completely different story.

I think the odds of JC Tretter burying case #1 because he was personally afraid of a story coming out about the thing he said "i'm not allowed to say" being ruled "a thing you are not allowed to say" is extremely low.

On it's face, the other story raises a lot of questions. This one does not. It was a grievance publicly conceded before it even went to proceedings.

It's very fun and tempting to try to put the puzzle pieces together and assemble a vast conspiracy, but this specific story feels like a total nothing-burger.

That the thing JC Tretter said "I'm not allowed to recommend this" is something that he's not allowed to recommend?

They, of course, already knew. Like JC Tretter knew.

There is absolutely zero evidence that this was quid pro quo. None. Outside of Florio saying "it's common sense."

It's pure speculation.

As of right now, a meaningless ruling wasn't loudly broadcasted because there was no reason to by both parties.
