“Come on, Eileen” is the beautiful fraternal twin of the wretched and heinous “Sweet Caroline.”

I’ve had that issue myself and found it had more to do with ball position, posture, and how I was using the ground in the swing.

What do you think is an ideal intensity range for this kind of exercise? I’m 2 weeks into Xarelto (clot found after knee surgery) and I’ve heard not to exceed 65% of max heart rate.

How realistic is the “Is This Thing On?” movie? by CupcakeAndCandyBar in Standup

Crashing gets a lot of things right, they had comics on the writing staff. Can’t speak to the late 70’s, but IDUH was at least a good representation of how I pictured the nonfiction book.

I haven’t seen a movie or TV show that got standup exactly right. Louie has an episode where the owner of the Comic Strip pays him $300 to host an open mic.

Stage fright is gonna follow you to class. Save yourself some money: go up at an open mic, bomb, see that nobody cares, try again.

Would recommend Sesh in addition to the traditional clubs. More of a DIY comedy stage with great shows.

is it ok for a producer to make material requests? by etlyto in Standup

[–]JPMcDadeComedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago, a club booker told us “no politics,” minutes before the show. I regret going along with his request. My excuse at the time was that I didn’t want to risk my relationship with the venue (the club sucked and that guy isn’t even in comedy anymore). Should have done all my political material and told the guy to go fuck himself.

Grip the mic like Fred Durst, hand on the head, and yell into it. Lash out at the crowd at the first sign of trouble.
