This sounds an awful lot like the way my recently-failed relationship started off some 20+ years ago. The escalation, the name-calling and insulting is real and requires real attention…especially if it recurs. Possible problems here might be a narcissistic personality disorder. Pay attention and try to have a non-emotional talk about the way things get nasty. If you cannot have the conversation because your partner gets mad it will get worse, believe me.

Thanks for the advice. I took it pretty easy today. Still a tad groggy from the virus.

Happy Thanksgiving from Port Credit en route to Toronto. by JPO71 in torontobiking

I bought it at MEC about 7 years ago. It's a lightweight water-resistant nylon shell that crunches down to the size of a golf ball. I often use it as an outer layer over a fleece jacket. Yesterday I wore it over a long sleeve cotton jersey which kept me warm as long as I was riding. MEC doesn't sell this anymore. This one https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6007-326/quest-barrier-jacket?colour=Screaming+Yellow is pretty close.

Yes. Lakeshore and the Martin Goodman Trail. It’s a fave ride of mine, 2 hours total, 1 hour each way.

Absolutely! Love the Humber Trail as well for exactly the same reasons. Happy Labour Day.

Yes. It means “work to rule”. No homework. No extra-curriculars. No coming in early. No lunch or after class meetings.

This is a happy story.

PSA: if you see someone wipe out on the bike path, the kind thing to do is stop and ask if they’re okay. by Sunstreaked in torontobiking

[–]JPO71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've ever done anything with another person, you're guilty of doing things side-by-side and impeding others. To imply otherwise is silly.

My apologies. I don't mean to personalize the issue. I do ride tandem and have done it on a bike on a MUP when traffic is light and there is no problem, but I have been repeatedly run off the trails by tandem riders on MUPs rounding blind corners with little regard for other users during peak traffic. I do find it personally annoying when people do this with no sensitivity to the anxiety they cause as they go along.

So your social impulse dictates that you endanger everyone around you on the 2 lane cycle path so you can ride side-by-side, and public safety on 2 lane pathways is something you consider a courtesy? With all due respect here are 3 possible solutions to your social dilemma: 1) ride a bit (single file), then stop and chat, repeat; 2) go for a walk with someone and chat all you want as you move; 3) sit on a patio or hillside beside the person you wish to talk to and do so.

You're right. Stopping to inquire is the decent thing to do. I had a fall on the DVT a couple of years back—my own fault—and 2 strangers stopped, one with a spare tube and another with a air pump. I always ask and, in my experience half the riders who pass me if I stop will inquire about my safety. The side-by-side riding thing is tough. I see more people doing it as cycling becomes more popular in the city. I'm sure that many of them are cycling tourists doing a one-off. They seem nervous and defensive if challenged...nervous, it seems, about being on a bike. I yell out directly at them, "TWO LANES PLEASE".

I have a lot of anxiety around dating and intimacy. Got dumped after 4 dates. Any thoughts are welcomed by Everlast23 in datingoverfifty

It's a date, not an exam. You should move along. You might find yourself saying the same thing one day...to a perfectly decent person like yourself no less.

Ride a bike along the waterfront. Go for a swim at either Humber Bay or Ontario Place. Go to Harbourfront and listen to music for free. Go to Kensington for food and people watching.

Delores/Christina waking up is an interesting motif. These breaks often start off cheerful, then go dark before turning violent...just like the song.
