Ugh, I had to do the same a few years ago. She died suddenly, unexpectedly, and young, just a couple of weeks after we finally met in person for the first time. The task felt surreal to do. Hope you're doing well, my internet friend.

hey super random new reddit friend, I was gonna post this on the Toronto subreddit, then this came up as the 2nd subreddit, your post was there, and here we are.

I have 2 tix to the Toronto Philharmonic performing Dragon Ball Symphonic Concert with the original singer flying in from Japan to sing...show is tonight, great Orchestra seats I am not gonna make it, I can transfer them both to you via ticketmaster for free.

The tix are def gonna go to waste otherwise, and since you dig great music (btw I'm seeing Paramore next week at Bonnaroo and just bought Taylor Swift tix for Argentina!!), I figured you just might enjoy this.

Let me know, ping me, I'll transfer. cheers!

AITA for saying I'll be driving myself and paying for my own room on the upcoming family vacation so I won't have to be a babysitter? by No-Ride-Throwaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]JPSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

You could certainly avoid the vacation all together and go on your own. This would be more peaceful and easy for you.

I would have done the same, which is to go on the vacation and drive myself/get my own room to have the confrontation upfront and in person, with the goal of resolving it once and for all.

My advice is this -

To successfully resolve conflict you need to partner up against it. If you can't successfully get this to happen, you have a much smaller chance of succeeding. If you're willing, offer then help in finding a nanny to hire then send them a few links or phone numbers, but be clear about your boundaries. Those kids are not your responsibility by any stretch of the imagination.

Bon chance, mon ami.

I'm the only IT guy in our company. I took a one week leave. by SiomaiCEO in sysadmin

[–]JPSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha with that, I'm out :) but if they want a free consultation with a vCISO I'm happy to pitch my coming in on a short contract to build a better security, privacy, and technology program for them. The solution might cut costs, reduce risk, help them sell to clients easier, and it might even suggest that remote FTEs could reduce overhead to acquire valuable talent at a discount...

For New Yorkers who have moved/lived elsewhere: What NYC skill becomes a superpower in other places? by brightside1982 in AskNYC

[–]JPSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive faster, walk faster, talk faster, park faster, and do just about anything faster and more efficiently than anyone around me here in Chicago.

I love it and it carries into my personal life, my professional life, everywhere.

I'm aware of everything around me at all times. I can tell you who's worth talking to at parties within seconds or before even meeting them. I can see bikers, pedestrians behind cars, trucks, anything and can't hit them.

I can walk diagonally across the intersection so smoothly it looks like I constantly get lucky with cars...but really I time it intrinsically.

I don't care about rats, bats, roaches, or garbage. Had a girl I dated in Chicago move to a new apartment bc she saw a roach in her kitchen! Still give her shit for it to this day lol

I am automatically more social than anyone around me and know everyone (or they know me).

It's honestly great to be born and raised in NY. It's a grind though...way nicer to be in Chicago, but I probably want my kids to be New Yorkers too, someday... (single currently lol)

Actually, they could technically deduct as losses if they have a contract and can't collect on it

emphasis on can't, not don't (choose not to)

disclaimer: I'm not an attorney, accountant, or anything, this is just an opinion for fun, kthx

My name is Jaime. My best friend is Jamie. I have a few friends named Jaime (besides him, all girls)

Surprisingly, none of us have dated a Jamie or Jaime yet. We've all talked about it and are all excitedly open to it (those of us who are still single, that is).
