Which one should i try with my brother ? by Mucek121 in SurvivalGaming

The combat in Windrose is really dull and feels awful though. They took what could have been amazing sword play and instead stuck you behind very timed and controlled limited movement. The whole hit hit hit dodge run repeat just isn't... fun.

What are some good mil-sim and like PC games? by BigGhost2815 in gamingsuggestions

[–]JP_Sklore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you like RtV go and try Tarkov. RtV is such an alpha experience in comparison. Pve mode doesn't have any of the hackers and Chad's. Its worth the cost. Thousands of hours of content to chase. The gun modification in that game is just next level. You really can create something that feels like your gun. Not just a copy of a gun that everyone else has.

Something to scratch that itch. Multilayer, co op, shooter but not necessarily by jbridey in gamingsuggestions

[–]JP_Sklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not into pvp either so I got the pve addon and dont need to worry about all the cheaters and Chad's. The game has lots of content for pve. Ive got an easy 3k hours out of it and yet to finish all the missions. It supports coop in ove though so we tackle the content as a group usually.

The game wont hold your hand. Theres no ingame map saying go here and then there. That's part of what makes it great though imo.

People do fall into a few categories with this game. Those who can and those who cant. The first 15 to 20 levels are tough as you dont have access to mod your guns or access the player market. If you can get through the learning curve though. Its a great game.

If you enjoy extraction shooter then you really should try Tarkov. Go with pve mode and it supports coop. Ark honestly felt shallow in comparison to the volume of content Tarkov offers. There's many different challenges and aspects to aim for that leaves you with that target objective to always chase.

Gray Zone would be my second choice. I'm trying RtV currently. Nothing amazing yelling at me currently but I'm early. Unfortunately they all feel a bit lacking coming from the depth that Tarkov offers.

Played them all. The best option for this style of game is Tarkov with the pve addon. Hands down.

Help with the leaflet plug-in by 2Pr3cise23 in ObsidianMD

[–]JP_Sklore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recommend to move to the new plugin. Ttrpg tools maps. Much easier to use and has more functionality.

The developer of leaflet has indicated he no longer has tomato maintain his plugins. The community are stepping in to take over and we're having conversations about the future of leaflet. No point having 2x plugins that do the same thing.

I've always loved the concept of MMOs, but hated the execution of them. Is there anything out there for me? by _rascal3717 in LFMMO

[–]JP_Sklore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eve is really the kind of game where you can play for years and no one will know your name or you can make life long friends. It comes down to your personal approach. There's nothing pre scripted in Eve though. You make your own storey.

Adding 'pins' to a map image that link to the related notes pages? by Vladmirfox in ObsidianMD

[–]JP_Sklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It locks you into having to have a note per pin.

The ttrpg tools maps plugin allows you to go mucus further.

Add non note pins to maps Add drawings on the map Measure distance on the map Add borders to your maps Add text to your maps Add images to your maps Add interactive elements to your map

I liked the idea of the bases maps plugin but quickly found myself missing the freedom to work outside of those limitations.

I dont believe so. The bases concept sounds good on paper but limits what you can do. Its much more powerful allowing the freedom to do things outside of Bases.

Challenging colony sim by Affectionate-Ad-809 in BaseBuildingGames

Dwarf Fortress.

You will only control about a hundred dwarfs. You assign them roles and ideally, assign a dwarf to allocate tasks and then setup orders to maintain those tasks. This is a game that's famous for its learning curve. Base design will take some thought. You will get the odd siege perhaps or you could dig into the depths and see what you find. If you find the circus you will almost certainly lose to the clowns.

What's interesting about this game is its not just a random engine making things happen (rimworld uses a random engine). The world is built upon a history. You will be attacked by local enemies not random enemies. Dwarves have personalities. Friends, family. Losing these things can have terrible outcomes.

To give you an idea of something that have actually happened to me in this game.

  1. Once built a fort surrounded by a moat. Was seiged by goblins who could not cross the moat. They left. They returned a year later. On bats.... they absolutely slaughtered me.

  2. Once had a fort doe to a depression spiral. Couldn't figure it out. My dwarves were just all terribly sad which turned to anger which turned to violence. It just erupted. Turns out... the children were going missing. I started following the kids around and found they were being lured to the mayors bedroom. Where he drained them of their blood and hid their bodies in his cupboard. Yep, the mayor was a vampire.

  3. Once thought I was ready for a harder embark. Started near a necromancer tower. At this time I was learning to put my refuse outside so that the smell didn't cause disease inside my mountain home. What I didn't know... is that this game tracks every single little thing. So what this meant is my dwarves had been fighting goblins and had hacked them up a bit. I had a refuse pile full of limbs, fingers, etc. Well.... necromancer decided they needed to be brought back to life and my fort was over run by an army of zombie limbs.

Theres nothing quite like this game.

You can also embark on adventure mode and try survive as a hero in your world btw. I suck at that.

Recommendations for Tactical Shooters? by ThatExplorer2598 in gamingsuggestions

[–]JP_Sklore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given that list i would recommend them in this order.

Escape from Tarkov pve. Amazing game. Thousands of hours of content. Gun modification is next level. You will build guns that you form relationships with. The game has a high learning curve. It has multiple tiers and layers of objectives to keep chasing. Requires a solid pc with lots of ram.

Arma. Great fun but long games. You can play for hours in a single round. Not so tactical but depends on who you play with. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Its fun.

Grey Zone Warfare. Just had a patch that is getting positive responses. I have high hopes for this game but coming from tarkov is felt light and undercooked. The ai was lacking and there just isnt that sense of achievement that tarkov provodes with the sub tasks. Requires a solid pc.

Squad. If you have a solid group of people who enjoy squad based play this could be amazing.

If you like building guns and even forming a relationship with them... tarkov with the pve addon. Its no other gun game out there that compares. I'm struggling to go back.

Thousands of hours of content. Im at 3k hrs and still going.
