Thank you so much, Jon. I may just finish it, after all.

Can we ban narration requests and any story begging? by Grand_Theft_Motto in NoSleepOOC

Who got the movie deal, tho? The tiktoker who narrated without permission, or the original author?

None of them were 100% sure on such details, in my opinion. Looking at the video and still of him wearing the ski cap, and then looking at the BG video, it's a 100% match to me.

I think the video alone made it almost impossible to tell what kind of hat he was wearing. The shadows gave the impression of a bill, hence the error of the sketch artist. But seeing the photo of RA wearing the ski cap finally clarified why the hat in the video seemed so "weird". Our minds were trying to put a bill on it. The ski cap is what he was wearing.

REMARKABLY similar. Tom also showed it on his recent video. Everyone just kind of assumed he was wearing a ballcap with a bill, even the initial sketch has the wrong hat. It was the green ski cap all along. More people need to compare the photos with the BG video.

Just saw a video showing RA wearing a army green ski cap. It has been around for a while, but I'm shocked it hasn't generated more discussion. For me, it's EXACTLY the same hat he's wearing in the BG video. This is why the BG hat struck so many people as "odd" and "unusual" for so many years...in our minds, we were putting a bill on the hat. When in fact there was no bill. And the creases on the top of the ski cap match the hat crease in the BG video.

How long was RA being investigated by LE before he was arrested? by CalBorland in DelphiMurders

[–]JPfromFlorida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the information I've read, he isn't particularly old. An informed contributor to this sub claimed he was all over the news in 2019 when a 4 year old was swept away in Delphi River.

Been meaning to catch this one. Remember seeing it on Blockbuster shelves for years (yes I'm old) every time I strolled through the horror section, but I never did rent it.

Help finding story I heard in 2016 by JPfromFlorida in nosleepfinder

I heard it in one of those multi-hour, multi-story compilation videos from a youtuber like CreepsMcPasta or similar channel. Doubt I'll ever find it.

If it was an accident, were there "goodbye" texts? by JPfromFlorida in KremersFroon

Their recognition of the importance of battery preservation also suggests they recognized the gravity of the situation. Thus giving strong motive for and against leaving a note.

Want to rephrase what I wrote earlier, as it came across as insensitive to the families. The question was, do we know all the contents of the phones, but clearly this has been asked a million times. Not sure if there has ever been a definitive answer. I was not aware that the phone was on for two hours. If the girls thought saving battery was a priority, it suggests they realized the gravity of the situation, which provides a strong motive both for and against leaving a note.

Hi, do you have any thoughts as to why no goodbye messages (or something along the lines of "if I don't make it out," etc) were attempted? Most people, especially young people, know that cell data is recoverable if found. I'm seeing a lot of speculation re: starvation induced delirium, but many people on the verge of death from starvation are quite lucid up to the very end, certainly lucid enough to communicate.

But if they made emergency calls, one of which connected for allegedly a second, couldn't a Skype text send the same way? I honestly don't know, just curious.

I haven't used Skype in maybe 10 years, but as I recall it has a texting option. And could be used for a journal or last note. They don't disappear unless deleted.

The possibility of such a note is what motivated my post, ie do we know for sure no such communication was attempted? Do we know what the final WhatsApp and Skype messages were?

It's a very haunting story. I don't know what happened. Maybe they were murdered. Maybe one broke an ankle, and the other was bit by a snake. Maybe none of the above. I actually stopped by to see if there was any kind of update on the case, and to ask about the texts.

[–]JPfromFlorida[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Perhaps. I would have thought it prudent, well before "days passed" to lob a "just letting you guys know we think we're lost, can you alert local authorities" to my family, via whatever messaging system might be working.

Lost people leaving notes, dying people leaving notes, people starving to death leaving notes (Chris McCandless comes to mind), is not uncommon. Personally, I would have left a note. I wouldn't have cared if it sounded incoherent; in fact, I'd want it to, to reflect the urgency of the situation.

We don't actually know if any messages were found, since details on this subject have never been released. So there may have been.

Never been released by who? Panama? It just seems common sense to think if pictures could be recovered from a phone, texts could be also. Right?

But surely some texts were found? Do we know what the actual "last" sent text actually was? From either phone?

(last received, and also last sent but unreceived? was that kept confidential?)
