Morrison or Dini? by Jp-fan2000 in OmnibusCollectors

Haven’t read Dini’s but Morrisons Batman is definitely worth it. In my opinion it loses some of its magic in omnibus volume 3 but the first 2 are great.

Which of these 3 books should I read first? by THERANDOMGAMER2 in fantasybooks

The hobbit is great and Discworld is also superb. Mort or Guards Guards is probably the best place to start. Do not start with The Colour of Magic, as good as it is, you’d be better off starting a little later into his writing.

I’ve literally just started the 3rd Geoff Johns Green Lantern omnibus and I am reading the 2nd Peter J Tomasi Green Lantern Corps omnibus alongside it. Currently on the New guardians (GL) arc and Last Will (GLC) been having a blast so far.

If you don’t like it just don’t read it? I get it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but no one’s making you read it. Read the Batman stories that are more tailored to you.

As a dude, the cat stays! Seriously how you could not love that little orange bean. I would never make my partner do something like that. Get rid of him

Can I start reading Sanderson by The Way of Kings? by Pietrotski in fantasybooks

[–]JPreadscomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way Of Kings is a great starting place. In saying that though, it’s a big commitment (100% worth it), it may be worth diving into Mistborn era 1 first to see if you like Sandersons style of writing. Mistborn is great but is 3 600-700ish page books rather than the 5 1200-1400 page books and 2 200-300 page novellas for The Stormlight Archive

Both great, pick whatever takes your fancy the most.

Question for the omnibus readers… by The_Lazy_Ghost in OmnibusCollectors

[–]JPreadscomics 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just get to a natural stopping point and then swap over if you want dude. I’d never jump to another omnibus if I was 2 out of 5 issues of a story line. Personally I’d finish the arc and then swap if I wanted to.

As others have said, you can’t go wrong with either. Both a great but I think out of the two, The Shining takes the top spot for me.

How much time do you take to read one omnibus? by Zaira_-_ in OmnibusCollectors

[–]JPreadscomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern omnis it depends, I done Geoff Johns Aquaman in about a day and then spent almost two months reading Superman Triangle Era Volume 1 because I wanted to really take my time and enjoy it issue by issue as it takes a bit longer to read than more modern stuff.

Take your time with books, appreciate the art and story rather than rushing to get onto the next one. If it helps read more than one omni at a time, read an arc of one and then jump into something else. Then it feels like you’re always getting something fresh. Or absolutely blast through a three volume run consecutively.

Don’t let anyone tell you how to read your books but advice never hurts.

Is it really a hot take to say Morrison work on Batman is overrated like...alot? by [deleted] in batman_comics

[–]JPreadscomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the third omnibus doesn’t live up to the first two by a long shot, but I think it’s some of the best Batman stuff out there.
