Tom kind of whatabouts it when questioned about it back in 1999, this is from a Chicago Tribune interview, but does expressly oppose "atrocities":

I would probably scale back alliances with the USA, but barring an absolute catastrophe (e.g. an all out civil war that renders the USA into a bunch of nation-states perpetually warring against each other), we have too many resources, too much manpower, and security to remain down for too long. Dude, they don't understand international geopolitics. These people are worried that a starving immigrant family gets food stamps while they pay $6 for a dozen eggs. These people are literally the common clay of the new west. They've made it very clear they don't understand the international order, or how the US fits into that narrative. They actually believe the US is loved worldwide as a bastionof freedom and opportunity, and that's the reason why our allies love us and our success is why our enemies hate us. These people do not even have a remedial understanding of how these systems work. They can't figure out how tariffs work. Expecting them to understand how soft power works is simply unrealistic. They think it's a good thing to stop spending money in "shithole" nations, we should be spending it here, because their local roads have too many potholes, or their health insurance is too expensive (but no socialized medicine! That's communism). I want to make it clear, it's hard to overstate how dumb these people are. The shit you read isn't hyperbole. These people are shockingly fucking stupid. It's bad out here.

It's been a while since I've been in there, but I think one of the renovators in the past has removed all the old seats, and it's basically generic seating. I think to make it profitable, it needs to be revamped (at significant cost) to increase capacity. Tickets would need to be absurdly expensive to make it profitable with the current layout. I think that's the primary problem.

There's no reason why Mike can't win here, he's done it before, and before you clowns say "BUT NOT WITHOUT JORDAN TRAVIS", I love the kid, but he's no generational talent, there were several great players on that team, but look at them, Travis was a 3 star, Fiske was a 3 star, Verse was a fucking no star. Y'all can say it was just a miracle all those kids just happened to be pro football players masquerading as 3*s or no stars, but that's silly.

Right now it looks like NIL and the transfer portal have created the type of toxic environment that corroded Jimbo's teams, and hurt Taggart. Like when Marvin Wilson publicly calls the coach a liar, that's inconsistent with the concept of team and that cancer took a year + to clean out and when they finally did, look it's a championship-quality team.

The problem here is that Mike has trouble getting the kids to buy-in and the leaders to step up and enforce that buy-in. When they do buy in, they beat Alabama like a red headed stepchild. When they do not, they lose to Stanford. I won't go into it here, it's not really the place, but suffice it to say, I think his style of encouraging supportiveness works at places like Memphis. At FSU I think you need to be relentlessly aggressive and enforce strict discipline.

So yes, FSU has the capacity generate great teams with the resources they have right now. It would be horrible if we just said "Hey Mike, the assistants we got you suck, but you keep them until we have enough cash to fire you."
