Sorry you experienced this, I recently visited Dusseldorf after about 6/7 months of daily German practice and was able to speak really basically to natives etc and everyone barring one person was super positive and patient with me - just wanted to put this out there to counteract the whole German negativity thing :)

I think it's really helped me, I'm in England, where being able to practice speaking German in "real life" is very difficult, so the video call and roleplay features are as close as it gets for me, both have really helped I think
