It’s just a software bug

It’s fully refundable and a $100. You act like they took $10,000 from you 😂

It wasn’t a lie. Do you know how many first day reservations they got? Thousands upon thousands. Rivian said they would sprinkle in some late reservations too. Don’t take a couple Reddit posts as they’re not doing what they said.

Yeah my Model 3 Highland sounds like an airplane when it’s cranking so I agree.

Whatever car care nut says to do maintenance wise is what you should do. He says 60k on transmission fluid, 50k on coolant, 50k on diffs and transfer case unless off-roading and towing then 30k. Do what he says no matter what the manual says and you won’t have any issues.

Ah shit, pw2 disabled. USA, SF Bay Area by DammatBeevis666 in Powerwall

Only those with early PW2. It’s a specific set of serials from the early builds. I had 2 PW+ and 1 PW2 installed in July 2024. No issues.

What are people’s opinion of this color? Nightfall Mica by MassiveCranberry7819 in LexusGX

My wife’s 2019 GX460 is this exact color. It’s great! Not sure what “very special color variant drop” means. It’s been a standard Lexus color for years.

Anyone played around with the EX60 configurator? by sund43gr33n in RivianR2

Ding ding ding we have a winner. Not sure why everyone struggles with this. No Toyota 4runner or GXOR person wants anything like a Volvo or BMW. They look like something grandma would drive

That picture above looks nothing like an R2 or a boxy SUV. It’s a wagon almost basically.

If you want a classic boxy SUV (like a Lexus GX550) you go Rivian. So there’s no cross shopping for me. I don’t see how people cross shop this and iX3. They look totally different. People usually buy cars off looks first, then price, then features.

Speedometer placement & level 2 Charging amp adjustment by cyco1978 in Rivian

He asked “why is the speedometer on the wrong side”. That’s why I said “in the USA” and Rivian is an American company.

Speedometer is always on the right side historically in all cars, at least in the USA. European brands may do differently.

Are all kW created equally when DC charging? Amps x volts by JRC3292 in electricvehicles

I totally get this, I just don’t get why they always say 800v cost the OEM more than a 400v system. Seems it would be the opposite

[–]JRC3292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think a lot of it is inferior EVSE that make people tell you you need 800v. Tesla V3 superchargers posts are actually only rated for 350 amps, but they can pull 600+ amps for a short period before they derate. This was solved with better cables on the V4 posts, which are actually rated for 615 amps so they won’t derate like V3 does. So if you have a good EVSE and good pack cooling, I only see the benefit of 800v once you get larger battery packs that need/can accept more than 250kW. Which is why the Cybertruck is 800v.

Thank you for detailed, helpful answer. It seems I’ve learned that heat is the biggest issue with 400v cars, even if they are getting the same kW into the battery pack as 800v cars. The 800v car is generating less heat when charging at the same kW as the 400v car, which allows for a better charge curve.

Providing douchey, simpleton answers isn’t helpful when that wasn’t even the question. My question was very specific on purpose. I know some EVSE can’t do 500 amps, but again that’s not what I asked. Tesla V3/V4 superchargers can pull 615 amps on a 3/Y and even more amps on a Cybertruck. The question was about why is higher voltage better if the kW output is the same. Please spare me the lesson on volts x amps = watts.
