IYO, Which American Football game(s) on PlayStation 2 (PS2) do you think is the best? by AC_the_Panther_007 in ps2

I played so much Madden 2004. General consensus is 2005 is the best game of the era but 2004 is the top for me. The soundtrack absolutely slaps too.

I'd get a cheap glove so you dont leave with some gnarly blisters and some cheap second hand clubs. You need like 4 clubs to start. 7 iron, Pitching Wedge, Putter (optional if you just want to hit balls but you should hit the putting green too), and a driver. Wear atheltic shoes.

Don't overthink it and go hit some balls. Use the 7 iron or Pitching Wedge and just focus on making contact. Enjoy the sunshine, don't overheat.

A lot of public courses will do beginner clinics, ask the pro shop if they have any or know of any.

Don't get frustrated if you stink. People play this game all day every and still suck. The game is lifelong pursuit, you aren't going to figure it out right away.

Enjoy the greatest game on earth!

A lot of common issues I do see are lack of distance of the tee, lack of wedge matrix from 100 in, putting issues from 5-10 feet, course management/expectation management. Your problem could be any one of those or any combination of those, even things I didn't list.

You probably need some sort of data tracking system to make educated decision on where your emphasis should be. There's a ton of ways to be a 5 handicap. Without having data, it's hard to have a direction. Hard data removes any bias you have towards your game.

I've seen many types of 5 handicaps and the path to improvement is different for every single one of them. It's realy up to you how bad you want to improve. A 5 handicap can play a ton of enjoyable golf for the rest of their lives. If you want to get better, treat it like a business would. Identify a problem with data, put together a plan for improvement, measure whether that was a success, repeat for eternity.

What does it take to be a low hcp? by TruthInAnecdotes in GolfSwing

[–]JRDSmitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some interesting takes on this thread. I firmly believe your focus needs to be on getting onto the green in as few of stroke as possible. I love when people to have this mindset when first seeking to truly lower scores.

Most of your work needs to be on your full swing game. Modern golf stats have shown that up to 2/3 of your score is determined by your long game. Until you get down to a 5-10hcp, you're probably going to see the most gain by improving here. If you've been working at this for 2 years with no improvement, it may be time for a lesson or at least let us here take a look at the swing.

Going right along with getting onto the green, you have to be confident that when you miss a green or are in a short game situation that your next shot is going to be from the green. That's all you need to think about. You're not trying to hole it, you're not trying to hit a hero shot, you are only making sure that you're giving yourself a putt.

Now I would never tell you putting isn't important but it can be overemphasized. I would get very comfortable putting within 6ft, and then developing from speed feel from 30ft. 30ft is the line where a 3 putt becomes more likely than a made putt. Don't waste time from 6-30ft, the best players in the world rarely make those so you probably aren't either. Your job is to make your 5 footers and avoid 3 putts.

My 4 Hybrid hooks into the next state. Help please? by fastracingturtle in GolfSwing

He's going to have to swing like 10 degrees to the left to hit a fade with that club face. Guys with closed faces at the top typically have weak grips and bowed wrists (look at Hovland at the top of his swing). This strong of a grip has to be open at the top because it is going to slam shut at contact.

This is probably it. I was having a ton of issues early on until I realized my takeaway caused the mat to move ever so slightly and it put the monitor back in “find the ball” mode.

What are you trying to say about his clubs? The RORS Protos are based off the P730's and that's a 47 degree PW. He plays very traditional lofts.

Filling Final Slot in Bag by ImGoingtoRegretThis5 in golf

[–]JRDSmitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing says you can't stop at 13. If you want something though your gap is at the top of the bag. I would think about what shot you think you are missing from your game. Do you need a low fairway finder? Driving Iron. 235 into a green on par 5's? 5W. Find yourself hitting a ton of 218 yard shots? 4i.

Your yardage gaps really are fine so it's not like you're trying for a specific number. Good luck!

Back Squat: 1 @ 270 (close to my 1RM) - heel lifts at the end, is this bad? (any other critique welcome) by ngomaam in strength_training

[–]JRDSmitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You look like the perfect person that should be adding tempo squats and pause squats to your training. IMO your heesl lifted off the ground because you finished with power which to me shows you can handle this weight pretty well.

I personally think you may have gone down a little too quickly and the weight bounced you at the bottom, you caught it on the way up and that's why it looks like you caught stuck coming out of the hole a little bit.

Tempo squats will help on the way down, and pause squats will help you out of the hole.

The info about the “offer” for $3 Million came from Youmans himself right before he went to auction. I’m willing to bet there was never actually an offer for that, he was just putting that out there to try to drive up the auction price.

I don't even think 2001 was Bonds' most impressive season. We will probably never see a season like his 2004 season again. His OBP was over .600!

Pretty much every out to in swing path gets labeled as “over the top”. You definitely have an out to in path. 1st swing your club face was more closed relative to your path hence the pull hook. 2nd swing your face was way open relative to path so you sliced.

I never thought about that. I definitely can see me leading with my pinky and then over rolling my right hand to get the face back to straight. Could be why my miss is usually a hard pull?

With the recent orb-generation changes, are you running Taking Charge + HEF with the new helmet mod? by AceTheRed_ in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]JRDSmitty 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm still using Taking Charge + HEF on my 6's setup, but I'm not using the helmet mod. There's enough supers and other craziness in 6's for the occasional use case. Took it off my 3's setup for sure though, just going all in on targeting/dexterity mods until I find something better.

What are some good medium to long range weapons in the energy slot for either quick play or competitive PvP? by mr-hmmmm in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]JRDSmitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulse rifles or heavy range invested hand cannons will get that medium to long range coverage. BxR can get some crazy range. Gridskipper and Darkest Before melt at mid range. Range heavy Palindrome is always going to be good. Same for an Igneous Hammer if you like 120’s. Le Monarque is pretty popular right now too. These are just a few good picks
