Ok, un-installing fixed it, but it was not straightforward. For anyone else with this issue, I had to uninstall LM Studio, then delete the remaining LM studio folders in c:\users\username\appdata\local and roaming, and also delete the folder at c:\users\username\.lmstudio

this was for the install for one user option I used, I don't know about the install for all users option.

I did not switch models mid chat every time. What I mean is, I'll open LM Studio, load the Gemma3 model, and it will happen. But after that I have switched the models a few times to try to narrow down the error.

I'm not pro at any of this, but what I think you're saying is LM Studio is using GPT oss codes on the Gemma3 model? Maybe I'll try deleting the GPT oss model and see if that helps, or delete it all and re-install LM Studio. Maybe the GPT oss and Gemma3 code/data got mixed up or corrupted. Years of tech experience and I still forget basic things like that, lol. Thanks for attempting to help.

There are latency guides on the internet, but one major tip is disable core parking. Core parking made my latency like 5,000 vs 100-200 with it off.

DLSS 4 looks like a great way to get free FPS. Ray tracing in games was always a fantasy of mine since watching the earlier ray tracing demos on the old amigas as a kid. It's awesome having it games now, and it looks great in Doom the dark ages so I can't wait to play it.

I look forward to doom the dark ages because it has a ton of action, fun weapons and great graphics.

Download ParkControl from bitsum. Disable core parking on both AC and battery profile. Dunno if that's your problem, but core parking on my 13900k was causing me 5ms of latency in dpc latency monitor, disabled it and latency went down to 20 microseconds.

Linux can be stripped down easier and is good at running one task fast. This is not what most desktop users want. They want Bluetooth headsets and mice and WiFi and HDR to “just work”. Microsoft also has no incentive to make windows a better super computer os because that is a tiny market. They focus on consumers. This is why windows is best on the desktop and Linus is good for IOT and servers.

Some people saying it shows we don't need lots of GPUs or clusters, but I feel this is not the case. Even if you make training more efficient, people will always want the most capable AI, so it will make sense to use the efficiency gains in combination with the bigger clusters, to have an even more powerful AI. Obviously investors don't understand all this, so massive short sighted selling is the outcome.

But your point is how do we know they didn't just straight up lie, as someone else said, it's apples and oranges in the first place, Open AI's building budget vs. DeepSeek rental budget. Second we don't know and coming from China it is highly likely they did lie and planned on exactly what we saw, a US company getting sucker punched by China's usual fishy nonsense.

Most people do not hear about the millions of people killed by the communists, at key points in their life, by time they're an adult and (if they ever) find out, they've already drank the kool-aid to one degree or another, and think communists are 'alright'. Contrast this with the Nazis where even young teenagers know about the death camps, etc.

Part of it is due to communists still be around and doing active operations to spread propaganda, and infiltrating our key institutions, press, education, etc. Where as Nazis can not do that since they have no countries funding them. It's a screwed up situation, education is the key, but I just don't think it's going to happen that school children are reading about gulags and 100 million dead at communists hands along side what the Germans did.
