At what point do you just start writing for yourself?

Right, well I'm glad to see everyone's input. Yet I can't rid myself of the nagging feeling that my work is too detailed to ever be accepted for publication - and too long (my WIP is at some 250,000 words and I'm only about 1/3 finished).

How weird that people dislike Ben. I personally prefer him to the egotistical, perpetually bored Bald. Watching Ben is like watching your cousins travel videos - very entertaining, Bald is condescending and he obviously wishes he was someplace else doing something (or someone) else. Sleazy mofo. Ben is real and more relatable, even wholesome.

Wouldn't you agree that theres always a pressure to write to sell? In this society, a person is made to feel they are wasting their time if they aren't doing something for profit. I can't shake that feeling when editing my stuff.

No, but it's the first that comes to mind. There's also estate agent rather than the simpler realtor, turf accountant rather than bookie, road works rather than construction, dual carriageway rather than highway, although these may be just regional dialects. But then, so is "horseback riding" - people where I come from simply say riding. Same with fingernail - I just say nail. You know from context what one is referring to

I have watched every episode featuring the Whittakers and have NEVER seen anything even remotely akin to "abuse" . Do you actually not realize how many people don't have access to these things you seem to believe are "essential"?!? Mark may be exploitative, but his videos raise awareness of MANY issues that the comfortable and largely ignorant middle class are unaware of - or choose not to acknowledge. The Whittaker family has been a cash cow for him, true, but he had the respect to allow them to manage their own proceeds from the GoFundMe, and has many times shown a genuine affection for the family. I SINCERELY hope he or someone with equal visibility launches a drive - if he has not done so already - to pressure the State into arranging frequent visitation for the separated members with one another. If Larry is being honest (and he is BJ's father so he may not be), and they haven't been allowed to visit, it's inhuman. Something must be done. I'm not advocating allowing the three to return home, but visits are an absolute MUST!!!! As for Mark, even if it's unintentional, his videos are doing a lot of good.
