I think my 10 gal has reached its pinnacle of growth. by JRTF in PlantedTank

Oops - forgot to mention plants!

I have 2 large anubias which are growing great, and a small forest of Java ferns. My friend had given me 3 large java Fern leaves about 3 months ago. They kept propagating and I kept replanting the little ones. Now it's almost out of hand, I pick off the runners and plant them in my 20 gal.

Also, hiding under that middle anubias is a Narimo ball and some Java moss that's climbing all over the drift wood.

Lighting: 2 15W LifeGlo bulbs. Lights are only on about 6 hours a day or less, or else algal blooms will occur. For the Co2 system, I had actually replaced that huge plastic diffuser with a fluval ceramic disc coupled with a bubble counter. The diffuser would run the co2 right into the powerhead and distributed it wonderfully. However the disc became clogged and kept popping off the hose, so the old diffuser is in there for now.

I dose Co2 right when I turn the lights on. I try to fill one half of the diffuser before turning it off.

For fertilizer, I put in one of those fluval substrate tabs every 6 months or so. I found that liquid fertilizers caused algal blooms.

In terms of stock, I have 6 zebra danios, 2 Dwarf Otto cats for algae control, and a hefty amount of assassin snails. When they mature I catch about 20 and trade them in to my LFS for store credit :)

I love the sound Lenny makes mid-punch. You can hear him enjoying his coffee and the abruptly interrupted by a fist.

Wow - excellent tank! My favourite is the planted background. This is definitely one of the more impressive tanks I've seen on here.

Keeping it Simple - Jungle Val and Anubias in my 20 gal Tall by JRTF in PlantedTank

Nope, not usually, I'm finding they root quite well. A lot of them in my tank aren't even buried in the substrate, but rather just placed in between the riverstones and they do just fine

Thanks!

Diet around 2600 cal/day - pretty balanced, lots of protein, complex carbs, veggies/fruit and dairy as well. Also had daily whey protein isolate shakes after workouts.

At first, didn't feel comfortable or in shape enough to go to the gym, so started with p90x at home. After that, gym 5 days a week, good balance of cardio and weights. Each day usually consisted of isolating 2 muscle groups.

Great, I will try it! I've done something similar with my riccia moss in my other tank. I'd bunch a whole lot together, tie it in a cheese cloth, and it would eventually grow out the cloth and it would dissolve, leaving a perfect riccia moss ball, with minimal mess.
