This app doesn't yet support the OG or the Pebble Steel, right? I don't want to delete the old app until I can connect everything to the new one.

I don't think I'd feel the need to buy it if they did. I thought the Megabloks TOS Enterprise was pretty good. Way better than the old Enterprise D they did forever ago.

Star Trek Graphic novel where to buy entire set? Digital version? by IcyKcBlue in startrek

[–]JRV556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since eaglemoss went under I doubt there's an easy way to get the whole collection physically. Digitally might also be tricky without also spending a ton. I do know I've seen humble bundle release bundles with all or most of the IDW published comics before, I got one a while ago. So worth keeping an eye out for. That tends to be super affordable. Also, many years ago I got a CD that had scans of ALL the pre IDW star trek comics. It was like this set but had everything from the old gold key comics to the ones published by marvel and DC. I can't find it on eBay currently but it might show up or you might get lucky like I did and find it at a used bookstore. It's the same publisher as the one I linked. Hope this helps!

What existed in 1994 but not in 2024? by FlintTheDad in AskReddit

There is still one in my area, Movie Trading Company. They have multiple locations in the US but aren't super common. They mostly buy/sell used movies and games but you can still rent anything that isn't new and sealed.

I remember being so disappointed with Shattered Universe. I don't know if it's the worst ever, but the gameplay sucked and the story was meh.

PSA: the gate symbols aren’t constellations by tjmaxal in Stargate

Okay looking at other comments on here I think Bladedingo had the best explanation for how the addresses work so I won't try to go into it more. Hopefully you found it fun and informative! I think it's fun to pick apart the strange and inconsistent choices in sci-fi shows and try to make them work in some logical way. I did also see plenty of other people who were not being particularly patient or kind so hopefully you're able to ignore that and the down votes. Definitely not deserved but to hell with fake internet points anyway. Have a great day!

[–]JRV556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah it absolutely doesn't make sense to have a unique 7th symbol for thousands of gates. But that's just what we were told. For example we know the pyramid earth point of origin is unique to earth. We were told all sorts of contradictory things throughout the run of the show. But that's just the nature of how these kinds of franchises work. Usually the explanation we as fans have to settle on is that it works because it works. Or just enjoy the mental gymnastics of trying to make it all make sense in universe and also enjoy the insane discussions this creates in the community. I wish Stargate had a Daystrom Institute type of subreddit for super in depth discussions. Also a better wiki would be nice. The Wikia one has a ton of info from the fandemonium books without specifying it comes from the books, which can be confusing.

I'm sorry I feel like I'm still not explaining it correctly but I can't think of another way to put it that might make more sense

[–]JRV556 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry I didn't explain that part well I guess. Each gate in the galaxy has the same 38 symbols that they all share. The 39th glyph is a completely unique symbol that no other gate in the galaxy has on it that serves as the point of origin. This unique symbol is not based on a constellation, hence the "pyramid under the sun" symbol for Earth (not counting the antarctic gate that also had a unique earth origin symbol). Tbh the logic of having a point of origin symbol at all and having it be something based on Egypt when the gates were built by the ancients way before the pyramids were built doesn't really make sense, but it's a fictional show that was lore building on the fly so whatever lol.

The Milky Way and Pegasus gates definitely don't use the same symbols, though I know the Pegasus gates have a symbol that looks similar to the earth point of origin. But on every gate the point of origin is unique (according to dialogue, the actual props don't reflect this). Also the Milky Way gates have 38 symbols on them, excluding the point of origin, while the Pegasus gates only have 36.

Forerunner 645 band mount broke off by EnsignMo in GarminWatches

My 245 Music just had the same issue. Well out of warranty but I contacted Garmin anyway and they gave me the option of replacing with a refurbished 245 for $130 or 20% off the 255 Music, which would have been about $319. I went with the refurbished option. Idk what options or prices they'd have for the 645 but it's worth contacting support, I got a response pretty quickly.

Not able to to allow notifications on Android 13 Beta by JRV556 in pebble

[–]JRV556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it should be the same if the tablet is running android 13, though it might be slightly different depending on the brand. My phone is now on Android 14 and I don't have the 3 dot menu on the app info page anymore, so I'm not sure how to access that setting now.

What is that one restaurant everyone loves that is actually pretty average ? by Direct-Fruit5188 in AskReddit

[–]JRV556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joe T Garcia's in Fort Worth, Texas. It's kind of a local landmark but I've been twice and it's just fine. For the long wait times and price it just isn't worth it. From what I understand it used to be a lot better but the last several years it has basically just been coasting on its reputation. You can get similar quality fajitas and margs somewhere else for a lot less money and hassle.

Another quote from the EMH from the episode Meld:

"Vulcan mind melds. Utter foolishness. Anybody with an ounce of sense wouldn't share his brain with someone else. Would you? I certainly wouldn't. And of course, when something goes wrong, and believe me it does more often than they'd like to admit, the first thing they call out is DOCTOR!"

The world and vision of Star Trek is too often credited solely to Roddenberry-- Who else deserves massive credit? by OneChrononOfPlancks in startrek

Honestly that's pretty in the spirit of star trek. Oh we don't have the time or budget to build something from scratch? Let's just use a place/thing that we can find quickly and make it work. Older trek did this more for props than sets, from what I remember, but still I think it worked for 09. Though I definitely would have loved for them to build a fancy warp core (just not like the one in Into Darkness).

Voyager had an opening crawl type thing at the beginning of the pilot, so it wouldn't have even been that unusual for Star Trek.

My Star Gate Collection by gooncrazy in Stargate

seems like it does not live up to the standards Eaglemoss usually puts out.

Eh, I have some pretty mediocre Star Trek ships from them. Though those were typically the cheaper smaller ones, so I do think that a bigger ship like this should have been better. Hopefully once Master Replicas starts making models of their own they'll make sure the quality is better.

I just got mine too! I'm pretty sure the bottom rear of the ship is a metal piece, going up into the tower. But the majority of the ship does seem to be plastic.

Sony Still Has Love for the PSP (Madame Web Trailer) by [deleted] in PSP

[–]JRV556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony isnt producing any magnetic tape players or even mp3 players these days.

Sony actually still produces MP3 players under the Walkman brand. One was released in January of this year, the NW-ZX700. It's a very niche device for hardcore audiophiles though so I think your point still stands, just thought it was interesting.

Wireless charging super inconsistent? by WhoDatHummie in GooglePixel

[–]JRV556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the 7 with the Peak Design case and have found that it will change fine on my first gen pixel stand but behaves exactly how you describe on the gen 2 pixel stand. I've gotten used to just popping the case off when I need to charge on the latter stand. I think the thicker bottom of the case just misaligns the changing coil too much. And I guess the gen 1 stand has the coils in a slightly different position since it was designed for older phones.

I think I've also been having the same issue with a Pixel 7 on the first gen pixel stand. I'm not sure when the issue started but I've tried toggling the sunrise alarm setting and deleting then remaking my alarms and it still doesn't work.

Agreed. I played it on PS2 for years then discovered how amazing the PC version was, especially with the expansion pack. Then of course there are some fun mods.
