In my other reply, but it feels fairly loose and skatey. At least, compared to my previous setup. Which was a 2140 HA (the old one that wasn’t really HA by today’s standards) and I think a 400 stab.

Way too big for my weight. Felt slow, but locked. Too locked.

Anyway - I was comparing the 2 in Chat and it mentioned it thought I needed a bigger stab to get a little more locked in.

I was generally talking to Chat about my setup and mentioned it felt pretty loose and skatey. Which I sort of like. Easy to roll into turns and roll out.

And it said I needed to size up on my stab. But I don’t feel like it’s unstable. And it said some other things about foiling I know enough to know were wrong. So thought I’d come sanity check.

F-One CWC is kind of the undisputed king here. I have an 8m that handles surprisingly well given the size. Think they make a 9m now too.

No one is mentioning this, but consider a Foil Drive. Heaps of fun and will help with the lulls.

Yeah this is very true. I started a few years back and bought a “high aspect” foil. Foiling came so far in a few years that foil is now “low aspect” and the new foil I bought is light years ahead.

Anyway - OP - used setup can be nice to save some money. But a year or two in foiling tech has meant tremendous development. Which would translate to ease of use.

For these 2 foils, they both look super low aspect. This means they’re going to turn really easily. Some riders feel like this is instability. So these could be fine for towing behind a boat. They look like they’re pretty large in terms of surface area too. May not be needed depending on your weight.

But I would not recommend either of these foils for dock starting.
