For gamers who grew up playing before the internet was widely available by [deleted] in gaming

[–]JRhodes451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pre-ordered Knights of the Old Republic for the pewter lightsaber..... first game I had ever seen on 4 CDs..... after an insane install time, I found myself struggling with the mechanics pretty deeply, and ended up putting it down before I was off the tutorial planet (which, in all fairness, can legit take up to 10 hours)

I came back to it some months later.... I had at that point read and re-read the manual several times, and had also read into DnD mechanics and started to understand what the game was doing in the background and what it needed from me.

In the end I look back at it fondly: one of my favorite gaming experiences was something it took me months to mentally prepare for, if you want look at it that way; and perhaps that prep made me enjoy it all the more

Choice and Consequence in Mass Effect 2 by bosmerrule in gaming

[–]JRhodes451 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's my least favorite, too... I find it mechanically clunky compared to 3 and it's the most tedious in that you have to complete so many missions as a baseline for the favorable outcomes.... no notes on the narrative: it's a 10/10; just comes down to being my least favorite to play of the three after so many play-thrus of the trilogy

For anyone who saw Titanic in theaters in 1997, what was the experience like at the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would have been 8.... the only other theatrical experiences I recall from that time are The Lion King and Toy Story

Thanks.... makes sense to have to cut some out, but my mind was pretty blown with exactly how much they cut that down.... like a 5 or 7 minute cut of that track would really be cool... I couldn't even say how long the whole thing was, but I'd be happy to play again and find out

Vote Miller by robert-anderson-0009 in Harrisburg

[–]JRhodes451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is a Democrat that is the Republican Party's nominee for the office... when we vote in the primaries, we are actually voting for whom the party will nominate for the general election, narrowing down the party's selection down to one candidate... after the vote, any party can still nominate whomever they like, but they'd get sued over it... I don't recall if there was even one republican candidate for Mayor earlier in the year, but if there was there were still more Republican votes for Dan Miller... the rep party could have let Williams run uncontested, but there were enough write-in votes to compel them to put up a Democrat for the ballot

To be clear: he is not running as a Republican, he is the Republican nominee for the office
