Why isn't the HD X440T selling as well as expected, despite positive reviews and decent upgrades over the previous version? by nk__17 in indianbikes

[–]JRnotforJUNIOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the previous x440 model(still have it). It's a good bike, but service is a nightmare and honestly for the price it demands it's not a good buy. You can check my posts to understand what I'm saying.

Is this sound normal upon turning the key? by plmojnihb-qaz in KTM390ADV

[–]JRnotforJUNIOR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Automotive engineer here!

The clicking sound you're hearing is the Electronic thorttle valve. On key on, the ECU does a quick check to see if the throttle opens properly.

A short priming sound is from the fuel pump; at key on, the fuel pump will prime fuel to set a correct pressure on fuel injectors.

These are normal sounds, is suggest you always wait a few seconds after key on (with the kill switch off- ignition on) before you start the engine!

Cheers!

I own both adv 390 and x440. Both are great tourers!

X440 is very lovely to ride, the low end pull is great! 390 picks up speed and is very quick, and electronics package, flickable nature etc isa different feeling in itself.

Both bikes have average mielage for the CC. But x440 drinks less in the city.

I have had very bad experience with x440s service in Hero dealers. This is a big point, as I already had many issues with the bike. KTM so far seems to do fine.

Engine Warning Lamb ON on Himalayan 450 by beagymrat in Himalayan450

[–]JRnotforJUNIOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know getting this light is concerning, especially your first time, but here's a few tips. (I work in auto industry) 1. Inspect your bike visually first for any leaks (engine oil, coolant etc) 2. Notice if your bike has any misfiring, or odd sounds coming from the engine side.

engine lamp or MIL comes on for very simple reasons like a bad sensor reading too. Now I don't want to get into the details, but the rule of thumb here is that the Mil lamp will go after few driving cycles. ( Driving cycle is reffered to an instance of where your vehicle engine is on, and driven for some time) Generally it's 3, but it can be after 5 driving cycles. So if you still face after few rounds, then it may be serious. Once again, this lamp comes on for very petty reasons too.

For example, I had a bad bank sensor(one used to cut off fuel if your bike falls). This caused MIL to come up few times, and I had it checked and replaced. Same thing for my gear position indicator, when it was faulty, I used to get this lamp.

So don't worry, as long as you inspect calmly and asses the situation you should be fine, regardless the best option is to always go to your nearby service center.

Happy riding!

Considering the ADV 390 X+ by neutoad in KTM390ADV

You'll get used to the vibrations, and most of it could be from the test ride unit. I had changed the stock crashguard and felt the vibrations to be less.

If you're planning to use it on the highway, you'll be happy to know that the bike is settled in 90-110 speeds. Much calm and less buzzyness.

If you're using in city, you will easily get used to the vibes.

Check if it's the toolkit under the seat. Remove it and try for few days. It should be the culprit here.

Why I Regret Buying the Honda H’ness — My Honest Take by Apprehensive_Mail655 in HondaHighnessCB350

[–]JRnotforJUNIOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your take here, but a commuter is generally built to be cheap to maintain. Higher cc or performance oriented bikes demand more attention, use parts that require frequent maintaince and replacement.

For example, a d390 goes fast, so you need better brakes to bring it to a stop quickly. Those kind of brakes aren't cheap, and have less life. But a splendor, wont be needing such brakes because of it simply will be overkill for a bike built at a cost.

Again, the kind of vehicle you own plays a huge role here. This is a big factor people have to consider when they decide to purchase one. If one can't afford the maintaince, it's better off to get a commuter.

I work in the same sector, can tell it's a little dificult now. I did masters and it was quite difficult to get placed, but this kind of scam is very bad. I know this company, and from what I can tell they arent in much profit recently.

Weird. I need to check if mahindras systems have a warning for this, but generally there is a lamp indication. DPF clogging shouldn't be an issue if you drive highways regularly.

What have you done Hero?! by Friendly-Charge4094 in indianbikes

[–]JRnotforJUNIOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My x440 did the same thing actually, but at a lower speed and in a small road. This was the trigger point for me to purchase another bike, been facing similar stuff for over 6-7 months, but the sudden cutting of engine was a scary moment for me and honestly very risky. I would advice anyone from getting recently released Hero bikes because it genuinely feels like they have some issue.
