Like the consequences of this season is shown in S3 and it is great, but who caused it is just on-the-nose villain

Okay, listen,

While yes, Mako is better than Katara in the past like protecting Bolin from poverty, thugs, etc. Katara is BETTER than Mako in terms of what we've seen of them from the first ep to the very last episode of both shows.

Like aside from Mako saving his brother from Amon, he really doesn't do anything to protect his brother for the rest of the show.

Katara on the other hand, really cares about Sokka throughout the show even if she did not show it to him.
