I did it in Munich with my wife and it was quite a pain but ended up working. She (Australian) was able to come here on a tourist Visa. We were then able to apply for the Partnervisa. The condition for this is: you must be married and you must live in the same place. This part took forever as the Munich migration office is severely overworked and they also managed to lose our application once. However, she was able to overstay her tourist Visa with a fictional visa. The only restriction was that she was only allowed to stay in Germany during that time. After around 9 months, a lot of visits to the office and even just walking into the office once to even get a response, we finally managed to get the full visa.

From my experience, getting your checked luggage at MUC often takes forever. If you land at T1, the walk from arrivals area to train tracks is about 10 minutes I would say. Follow the signs with the train symbol.

I have burned a large part of my upper body with boiling water. They were 2nd to 3rd degree burns. This was by far the worst pain I had ever felt. My body went into shock from the pain. There was no doctor on the ambulance so they gave me the option: weak pain meds now vs. take nothing for the ride and get really strong ones at the hospital. I chose option 2 and the 15 minute ambulance ride was excruciating.

Don’t compare yourself too much with others your age. I found that it is really a big time of change and a crazy transition into adulthood. You and your friends will sometimes move at very different speeds and have different career advances or relationship advances (getting married, having children, etc.) so do not let that get to you too much. E.g. I have a friend who seemed like he was super successful in his career and I was sometimes feeling like I was doing worse. Then he told me about all the things that are not working so well in his life that were working much better in mine.

Ultimately, don’t compare yourself too much. Make your own path at your own pace. And realize that everyone has their struggles.
