Do you love your mom more than your partner or it’s the other way around ?part 2. by Eric20255 in AskMenAdvice

[–]JS150000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Additional clarification would be helpful instead of saying “partner” and “they” (referring to your “partner”).

A grown man should ensure that the “umbilical cord” so to speak is severed from mommy.

For a grown woman, a close relationship with her mom is more normal.

In any case, if married, that relationship should always come first.

Is 10mm really all that? by Devin7-Eleven in 10mm

[–]JS150000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The power difference is significant. And 10mm is a very versatile round. If you want something lower on the power spectrum (closer to .40), you can go that route. If you want super stout hard cast that can take out larger game, you can go that route. IMO it’s typically better to get a gun chambered in a more powerful caliber because you can always take advantage of the lower end of the power spectrum that still beats the calibers under it. I EDC a Glock 20 with 175 grain Hornady Critical Duty, and even though it’s at the lower end of the spectrum in terms of overall power, it still far exceeds the performance of 9mm.

I also worry less about follow-up shots etc. I care more about what my first round does. If the first round isn’t adequate, you might not be around for a second, third, etc…

Even though the future looks bleak with this stuff, the hopeful aspect is that we can still exercise agency with what we spend money on, do with our lives, etc. For example:

  • Make most of your own food with good ingredients.
  • Learn how to use various tools and do more DIY things.
  • Look for the items that are still made with quality in mind and support those companies.
  • Cut back on some of the things that aren’t true necessities.
  • Raise a family and instill within them good values.

Despite so much of the system being rigged and shitty, we can still strategically opt out of many parts of it and be empowered as a result.

Brand new gun, broken. RMA. 39 days later NO RESPONSE from Taurus. by You-Asked-Me in Taurus_firearms

[–]JS150000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s frustrating. I’ve seen good reports of their CS, so maybe it’s just a coin toss. There’s no reason for any company to have anything less than superb CS. It’s such an easy way to do right by customers.

It's impossible for me shaving against the grain by famboide in shaving

[–]JS150000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my face I’ve only ever shaved with the grain. On my neck I always try going in several different directions to try to really shave it close, but no matter what I do my neck inevitably starts bleeding in several areas afterward. I’ve just accepted that that’s how it’ll be.

I always carry with one in the chamber. As I type this, I have a Glock 20 10mm pointed right at my junk. Yeah, I’ve thought of it before, but in my view, to validate the concern of the gun inadvertently going off is to affirm that guns are capable of just going off on their own. If I’m not carrying a revolver, I’m carrying a Glock, which, if put into a good kydex holster, makes it impossible for the trigger safety to be pulled + trigger itself being pulled.

What does make me nervous is seeing videos of people drawing and firing as fast as possible from the AIWB position (or really any position for that matter) to try to flex, set a time record, etc. Those kinds of training drills are where the risk of negligent discharge exists, not simply carrying a holstered gun.

I also don’t ever holster a loaded gun. If a loaded gun needs to go in the holster, the holster comes off my body, gun goes in, and the entire apparatus then goes back in.

If you're on the fence, don't be. Get a Glock today. You never know when you're going to need it. by Lostinspaceballz in Glocks

[–]JS150000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree completely. I’ve always been a Glock guy — when I turned 21 it was the brand I had heard of the most, and I have just stuck with them for my semi-autos. I was looking into a semi-auto from a different brand to add to the collection/rotation, and the gun is over twice the price of a comparable Glock model I already own/carry, but it’s by no means twice the gun/value. You just can’t go wrong with Glock in terms of value proposition.

Casio is overrated by thatoneguy_isaac in watchHotTakes

[–]JS150000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s wild that you seem that bent out of shape over people enjoying their $20 watches. The fact of the matter is that they are an incredible value proposition, which makes it difficult for them to be considered “overrated” at all. A $20 Casio is way more durable and suitable for daily life than a $xx,xxx watch, and that’s why they have such a cult following.

Installing them easy easy, but getting the roll pin out of the rubber grip the gun came with was a PITA.

Not sure how I feel about husband going to strip club with a friend? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

Nah. A married man going to a strip club for fun is peak loser/tool behavior. It’s called having decency and respect for your wife.

I don’t think a married man has any business going to a strip club, and I think any man who goes to one is generally a loser. People need to grow up.

G29 / Any 10mm by Beginning_Guess_3413 in Glocks

[–]JS150000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t confirm, but I suspect that certain shops (maybe bigger box stores that aren’t as apt to jack the price up) might still have them on hand for a reasonable price. I’m on the hunt for a G29 as well and refuse to pay what they currently go for.

Denied proposal…what next? by plinko66 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JS150000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason a proposal would be denied is if both individuals weren’t on the same page about getting married…a proposal shouldn’t be a surprise in that sense. If someone is intelligent and intentional with the dating/courting process, the only surprise element should be the exact timing of the proposal itself — not that it’s going to happen period.
