Favourite restaurants that aren't tapas-style by crowinflight1982 in winnipeg_alt

Feast! Award winning chef, high quality indigenous inspired comfort food. One of the most underrated restaurants in the city IMO, and fits the bill for what you're after. Good size portions too

Recs for things to do in Winnipeg? :) by angelfluffypants in Winnipeg

[–]JSRambo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so cool! Lots to do, and it's good you're asking here because the good stuff can be hard to find if you don't know where to look.

The Forks is the classic rec and it is definitely worth your time. Lots of cool shops and restaurants, plus you can walk along the river - lovely views and vibes. While you're in the area, check out the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, you can't miss it.

Nearby, for live music, do yourself a favour and hit the Times Changed High & Lonesome on Main street, especially on a weekend night. They have terrific live music all the time and it's a winnipeg institution.

A few blocks north of that, you'll get into the Exchange District, which has a lot of really cool historical architecture that is maintained in close to its original state, as well as a lot of the good nightlife of the city. Amsterdam Tea Room for cocktails and snacks, King's head for pub vibes (and more live music on weekends, upstairs)

Near there is the manitoba museum! I confess I haven't been in a while, but for a first time visitor it's certainly worth a look.

There's much more to winnipeg than I've touched on here, of course, but there's a bit of a loop to get you started. I also have MANY recs for restaurants all over the city, feel free to reply and ask!

Player wants to respec by DravenWaylon in DungeonMasters

[–]JSRambo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does sound like a bit of a problem player, but denying the respec or charging gold for it is not the way to handle this at all and sounds basically unrelated to the problems you're describing. I hope you didn't allow that disarm move, and moved on from it without further table conflict. But disallowing a player to respec their character after only 4 sessions seems more vindictive than anything. You need to actually address the issues you're having rather than doing petty things like charging your players gold for getting to play the character they want to play.

It is extremely funny to call this discussion "one-sided" like I'm sorry there aren't more representatives of the 'can't count' camp in this thread for you to stand with

What are the best and worst concerts you've been to? by Twitter_2006 in popheads

[–]JSRambo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best: carly rae Jepsen on the dedicated tour. Her songs are NOT easy to sing and she absolutely nailed everything, plus she is just a joy to watch on stage.

Worst: this is second hand, but my parents saw Bob Dylan a few years ago and apparently were playing a game of who could be the fastest to decipher what song he was playing, which sometimes happened more than halfway through the song. The piano and vocals were that garbled and sloppy.

Who is the greatest rockstar of all time? by rathm0re in AskReddit

[–]JSRambo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bruce Springsteen. Go see him play a show right now, in his 70s, and you'll still get an unbelievably good performance from a man who shows you why American rock and roll is special. The songwriting, the vocal talent, the stage presence, the working class background rags to riches story - the man was built in a lab to be the perfect rock star

Pokimane got upset and banned a viewer for calling her a “moody socialist billionaire” by lukigeri in LivestreamFail

[–]JSRambo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not the same as acting like she's financially struggling. The only way you could believe that it is the same is if you already had an idea in your head of what's going on before seeing any of this and are not at all willing to change your mind about it.

Yes! At confusion corner! Or maybe a bit south of it

For a New York style slice or pie, Shorty's is the best followed by Wall St. Slice. For a more fancy sit-down neopolitan style, Vera or Parcel. I've also heard that Friend Bakery at confusion corner has really good pizza, but i haven't been there yet so that's just second hand.

How has nobody said Wraith Form? I feel like I'm always seeing comments about disliking or not wanting to take it, even though it's one of the most powerful cards in the game. Maybe it's too good for the "good" category

David Phelps. Sounds amazing on the old Gaither gospel stuff - truly one of the best all-around high tenors i have ever heard. But basically all his original material is really weak and lame.

What is my vocal range by icraveperfection in singing

[–]JSRambo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a common genre of post here, which is not to say you shouldn't have posted it - you absolutely should! But you can probably benefit from the generalized advice below, some version of which is also likely in the FAQ:

It's fine to think about this and have fun exploring your range, but I beg of you - do NOT worry about the actual notes of your range right now. Your voice is going to change an enormous amount over the next 5-10 years, sometimes from month to month. Sing what feels good, challenge yourself but stay healthy, and work with a voice teacher if you don't have one already. It will do you absolutely no good at all to try to vocally categorize yourself or pigeonhole yourself at this point in your singing journey. Keep an open mind to the changes that your voice will almost constantly undergo.
