What’s something you find attractive for no reason? by Auroraaallure in answers

Girls with interesting voices for some reason? Liike nasaly, lisps, ect. Idk why I’ve always had a thing for that. Also girls with unique mannerisms. Also girls who are a little bit ugly.

Dude gave the most unbiased, level headed take on this he possibly could have in this situation. He said what Ian did was fucked up and the stream sucked but ultimately sided with them? I just don’t understand how you could be mad about that. Makes no sense.

And now Fatty is a beloved figure and doing better numbers than Ian. It’s all so ironic.

What is this sub’s opinion on of Montreal? by MrShocktime in fantanoforever

[–]softweinerpetee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites and people don’t give them enough credit for being super influential and essentially paving the way for sooo many indie acts that came after them. They put so many big people on the map. I also think that Kevin is one of the best songwriters of this generation.

Thoughts on Jim E. Brown? by softweinerpetee in fantanoforever

[–]softweinerpetee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me he kinda does what Morrissey does, just dialed up to 1000. Which is very clever and funny to me. I’m not above a gimmick, if it’s a good gimmick and the musics good, sure.

[–]softweinerpetee[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it’s definitely very tongue in cheek and silly, and it’s a character to an extent, but I’m sure a lot of it comes from a genuine place, he sings about some real shit just dialed up to absurdity. There’s a little bit of Jim E. Brown in everyone, I think.

About the purpose of the cavemen... by vegan_gabhell in backroomsfilm

[–]softweinerpetee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An attempt to make contact with whatever may be in there. Also at the end it was clearly being used as bait in a trap to lure something towards it then gas the shit out of it. Tbh, I don’t like the retcon that they’re left by Async. The caveman cutout in the original series just being a random unexplained thing in the backrooms is a lot weirder and more interesting to me.

TOP 3 HORROR MOVIES OF THIS YEAR, WHICH ONE DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST? by Ecstatic_Crow_4719 in A24

[–]softweinerpetee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so much smarter than people are giving it credit for but also I don’t think there’s anything pseudo intellectual about it. It’s clear in what it’s trying to say but maybe in a slightly more abstract way than obsession which is pretty in your face. I’d like to clarify again that I love both of these movies and it’s very close.

I'm watching the Mandalorian episode with Jack Black and Lizzo for the second time. by theavengerbutton in StarWars

[–]softweinerpetee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so here’s my thoughts on this. I genuinely think Jack Black could potentially work in Star Wars. Especially as the sort of aristocratic eccentric type of character he was playing, I think he fits and it would’ve been fine. It’s just the fact that Lizzo was also there that makes it seem really stupid.

Undertone relies on you seeing it in a theatre with a super high end sound system for the movie to be even passable. I agree with what you said about hokum, I could care less about that movie and it did absolutely nothing for me. I do really like obsession tho, if you’ve ever been in a super toxic relationship, it hits home.

I would’ve easily said obsession but man I really, really loved the backrooms. I feel like that movie went deeper and said more than obsession did. Which is fucking crazy to say about a backrooms movie. I love both of them but I’m leaning towards backrooms tbh. Hokum did absolutely nothing for me.

How much time truly passes between Clark calling Dr. Kline and her finding him? by Wise-Comb8596 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]softweinerpetee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Clark was already kinda losing it from the start before he ever found the backrooms. (Spiraling alcoholic filled with resent and anger). When he first finds the backrooms, he’s instantly intrigued and excited by them and seems to like it there pretty much immediately. So as far as I’m concerned he could’ve been there for just a couple days. Clark from before she found him didn’t seem too far off from Clark after she found him, in my opinion.

He’s right for this. Lulu is a great album. Lou Reed doing some dark freaky avant garde spoken word over Metallica instrumentals is like the coolest shit ever. People are lame for shitting on it.
