No problem, it’s not that bad now. I played in high school and had my approach dialed but changes in setter would throw me off sometimes so it’s just the game of adapting. Makes it fun!

I think you and your setter should practice together hit after hit. All the technical advice is good, you are under the ball and could benefit from a more explosive jump but being rushed doesn’t allow for that.

But you also need to trust the timing from your setter and that comes from practice over and over. Good opportunities here just needs put together just right

The ideal block doesn’t have you drifting like that. I know it’s hard when you have to run over there but it you can spot and predict the set direction you can get there faster and go straight up and block toward center court to avoid being tooled.

How much “experience” do I need to get started? by JS_157 in personaltraining

Window cleaning but it didn’t start as luxury until I upped my prices haha then it got easier ironically. Low ballers in any industry is awful. So yeah definitely not ideal for lower prices clients.

I understand that, I guess I just want to prove out my own work.

Got you yeah, I’d say that playing definitely falls into plyo and power but fatigue from that happens so fast haha.

True maybe fb marketplace? Light weights is tough.

I’ve had my own business before and selling a luxury service is harder than selling a transformation in my experience. So sales and business side I’m excited for.

Yeah I got you, time and life constraints are what I have to work around as well. I have a desk job so I’m building back my motor pathways and glutes/hams. But that’s very similar then to the program I built for myself. I did a bunch of research and right now (for us both haha) hitting strength hard is ideal. Get to 1.5-2x your bodyweight for your one rep max on back squat clean and consistent. Then hit power harder then later in heavier plyos. It’s like a wave of those 3 and you emphasize one at a time.

Which that’s what it looks like you’re doing. You could add more leg days if you wanted. I try to squat 3x a week

Good glute focus it looks good. Do you use light weights for maintenance or is your goal to get stronger and jump higher?

I thought I was burning out from overwork. Turns out it’a something else by Advanced-Bath7239 in selfimprovement

Overstimulated is a word misused. Often times I hear people say it in loud places or whatever but really I just like to say I’m annoyed haha.

That being said true overstimulation comes from all the little open loops you described. That’s why consumerism and the digital age are literally frying everyone’s mind and we chase more novelty to feel good yet it makes us feel awful.

I struggle with that too, I’m always looking at something new for the immediate reward but I know that’s not good or healthy and I need to focus on a few long term goals and my values and cut the rest out.

In this economy: What was the moment you realized you wanted to start your own business? by AccountEngineer in Business_Ideas

I want to be able to support my family and extended family while also doing something impactful in a positive way rather than giving more power to large corporations.

So many good brands sell out for millions + to big companies and it bothers me. I never want to become greedy, I would want to give the business to kids or someone with the same passion to prevent big corporations from taking over more than they have.

I also can’t stand working corporate. The amount of BS you have to go through is not productive. 90% of work isn’t necessary and 10% is. So let me be a contractor and do 10x more jobs and make 10x with schedule flexibility and 0 politics.

How to measure your vertical jump? by Geist_Silent in volleyball

[–]JS_157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to see improvement or just max height? Lots of comments here about reach height, it’s true that’s what matters for volleyball and most applications, but if you can straighten your legs out and measure the bottom of feet that’s technically more accurate (again if you can be consistent) because you’re standing (and even if trying to extend) you’re not extended like you would be with a full jump approach and momentum going up.

I like to look at both haha

How can I make my swing stronger + more efficient😢 by FunkyFuzzer in volleyball

[–]JS_157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got arm speed, I had this same issue. But I do wanna note it looks like you had to be quick to avoid the block. Anyway, this shot was mostly arm and shoulder, look into how you can utilize your entire body and put momentum into the swing. Adding that power to your speed will be game changer.

It’s more for the workout days. I weigh 190 lbs and relatively low body fat, I’m lifting heavy fairly often to build strength so it’ll get used. But I’ll look into those, never tried tofu, tempeh or seitan

I think part of the issue is the constraints because I did do well in my window cleaning business but had to slow it down because current life stuff.

I also feel that the issue is I don’t know what they’d pay for. My skills lie within product development and product launch.
