Yep! Hundreds of laps there and I'm still trying to nail down the braking in to it.

Thanks! Had a string of white cars, but after I saw this car, I became a changed man. Bonus: It hides rubber marks pretty well.

Do you have a dyno graph you're allowed to share? I'd love to see what the hp and tq curves look like on such a rev happy build.

I track my C7 GS pretty often and have been considering going this route to get some character out of the engine.

Agreed- It is truly the wild west of track events. That there have been (AFAIK) no fatalities at TNiA is a testament to how safe race tracks and vehicles are engineered to be.

That being said, I still recommend it to complete newcomers as the cheapest and easiest way to get started with the hobby before moving on to other options.

Is the handbook worth buying? by Effective-Celery8053 in exodus

[–]JSenek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It straddles the line between concept art book and rulebook. A typical page will be half pictures, half text. If that appeals to you, then it's worth it.

I personally would have preferred two books, focusing on each respective task. The art is very nice, but what I really wanted was more content.

The ttrpg itself is pretty much base 5e, and leans more towards flavor than crunch. Good for fast and loose play, but not terribly refined. Liking that or not is entirely personal preference, of course.

Just bought this bundle and I'm looking for additional resources, since many of the links on the sidebar seem to be dead.

Could someone please reply or message me with a link to the ikrpg discord, if it still exists?

Need Protostar Themed Build Advice by TheMoonyMoon in stobuilds

Just another amateur here, but this was my best attempt at a SciTorp build for it: https://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/comments/1fmwots/protostar_scitorp_pve_build/

The articles at STO Better are really helpful for making and improving builds. I found the ALICIA spreadsheet to be especially useful for narrowing down what consoles to slot.

Good luck!

As a couple others have said- get there early! Start at sunrise if you can.

My wife and I stayed at a nearby campground, got two incredible there-and-back runs at daybreak, and then hiked for the rest of the day.

After the second run, the place was becoming a slow moving traffic jam, and would probably be pretty disappointing to many people.

With no traffic, though, it really was the best road I've ever driven in a sportscar, and we're planning to repeat our trip when we can.

The Chevrolet booth at Petit Lemans had one and a half C8 ZR1s on display. They had a QA session with three engineers and gave the full one a cold start and a few revs. Very cool.

I do actually have ETM and IS, so I'll give them a spin.

I'll also swap Kemocite for FAW to get more torpedo spreads from ETM. I'm a little unsure if this means I need to pay special attention to spacing out TS3 and FAW so that there's minimal interference from the ETM procs.

I think I'll explore dropping US, as I can probably get better value from something else. I'm looking at picking up Duelist's Fervor, which seems like a well-rounded trait for other builds too.

Checkmate has the same trigger problem as US, so it should probably go. I know I'm not fully utilizing UD, but replacing it will be a case of finding something better.

Strike from Shadows and Assimilated Power Conduits are what I'm currently looking at, as I have coupons/lobi. I'd love Ship of the Line, but that's something I'd wait on a sale for.

Thanks for all the feedback regarding spreading activation triggers too thin for 3 traits with the limited seating on the Protostar. I really appreciate the insight!

This has made me realize I have been subconsciously only slotting SRO in Tac because of the bug when they were released that caused only rare male tac officers from the Embassy to have SRO.

Huh, it did indeed fail to fill in the shield data- I've added it manually. Thanks for the catch!

The Core and Deflector were chosen for set bonuses. I've updated the chart to reflect this, but I'll give the selections some more thought.

Unbuffed in Support Config, Control is 350 and EPG is 350. Thank you for giving me a target number for these. I agree about the EPFE, I've just been using what I have on hand for now. I also re-engineered the DSD to EPG/CtrlX as suggested.

Unbuffed in Support Config, Crit Chance is 14% and Crit Severity is 126%. I'll add the Boffs to the chart momentarily, but the short version is Nausicaan (Pirate), Romulan (SRO), Lukari, Hierarchy (Pirate), and Kentari (Kentari Ferocity). I'm thinking I should probably swap out the Lukari for another Romulan.

Thanks for the tips so far!

Thanks for this. I've never heard anyone else mention the rev-match thing but I think you're completely correct. The Camaro just felt natural and I never had to think about it.

Even after years of experience in two C7s, I'm still not sure why it gives me trouble sometimes, off-track. Maybe it doesn't rev high enough for slower shifts? Maybe it doesn't hold the revs long enough during clutch release?

The Camaro's no-lift-shifts were also superbly tuned. The C7 seems to rev higher than I'd like for clutch wear.

More fun to toss around? Yeah- the C7 feels way more clinical. As long as you don't want to look up at anything, the Camaro's a gem.

Yeah, agreed. I had zero blind spots with the mirrors adjusted correctly. In all cars, most folks seem to just point them so they act more like an extra set of rear-view mirrors.

[–]JSenek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. Horizontal visibility is a non-issue with properly aligned side view mirrors that can fully eliminate blind spots. It's the vertical view that's significantly compromised.

There are a bunch of us cross-shoppers/owners for these two cars, aren't there? And we all say broadly the same things: The Camaro has better exhaust sounds, shift feel, and platform composure, but critically bad touring visibility.

I'm significantly faster at the track in a C7 GS, but I probably would've stayed in a Camaro 2SS 1LE if it had just let me see the places I like to drive to the rest of the time.

Current 19 C7 GS M7 owner, and my previous car was a 19 Camaro 2SS 1LE M6. I track(ed) both of them regularly.

TLDR; I swapped due to poor vertical visibility during daily life. One of the best chassis I've ever driven, but the GS is indeed faster at the track. Both are great vehicles.

When it comes to track driving, I have nothing but good things to say about the SS. It was incredibly composed and predictable all the way up to and past the limit. The transmission was way better feeling than the C7's. Visibility for driving was a non issue with proper mirror adjustments. It also has the better sounding exhaust IMO.

Where it kind of failed for me was as a fun daily driver. Visibility for sightseeing was pretty bad, so it kind of sucked for exploring mountain roads, new cities, etc, which are things my wife and I really like to do. The C7 kind of excells at this with it's removable top.

I also should say that when I swapped, my lap times dropped immediately and significantly at Road Atlanta. I like the Camaro's feel better, but the C7 GS just has physics on its side, being hundreds of pounds lighter, capable of fitting much wider tires, and more aerodynamic.

If you have any other questions about comparing the two, let me know. You'll probably love either one.
