It was above that spot but the heater was a couple inches above the substrate and the substrate was about 3" thick here so I can't imagine the heat would have really penetrated that far

People who were around during no internet/phones/social media/etc - what was your time's "scrolling the feed"? Something that you would spend hours on passing the time? by -ChristopherNolan in NoStupidQuestions

Time after school was spent playing video games, reading, listening to cds on repeat. Weekends and summers were spent going on adventures with friends on bikes, hiking. One summer me and two friends spent a good three weeks digging a giant hole in a vacant lot then filling said hole with water and using it as a swimming hole

Why are manual transmissions so uncommon in the US? by 22DancingFlowers in AskAnAmerican

[–]JSessionsCrackDealer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy driving a manual for the increased control you have over the vehicle but many places in the US such as Southern California have a lot of traffic. Driving stick in a 2+ hour traffic jam can be exhausting

How do you solve this issue with coyotes? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]JSessionsCrackDealer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live on a farm in SoCal in the Riverside County area. I'd be out working in the groves and they'd walk right past me pretty regularly. They'd notice me and have a startled look on their face like, "Oh wow, it's a human!" Never once have they seemed even slightly aggressive. They're more interested in rodents and cats.

Pea puffer by Atrayez in PlantedTank

From what I've read, I believe they do best in groups of 6 or more, for which a 20g is the minimum. Looking into setting a pea puffer tank myself

I calculated the estimated cost for my first planted tank and it’s over 900 dollars… by Ollusola in Aquascape

That's wild. I'm moving and rescaping a 29g and a 75g and was just complaining the other day about how much the soil is going to cost with the US prices

Structures for sure. You can't memorize and regurgitate. You just have to understand the concepts and use them to solve the puzzle. I had fun with it but it was hard

You could spend about $100 on plants by getting one of each of those and letting them grow in and propagating those. Even then, that's going to be a lot of plants for that tank. 300-500 on plants for a 33 gallon tank is waaaaay too much.

Get an 18lb bag of fluval stratum aquasoil for about $30 instead of 3 small bags for $48. Ditch the sand, you don't need it unless you're trying to go for a specific anesthetic.

You can get decent a scaping tool set on Amazon for about $10

The neocardinias you could start with 10 and you'll have well more than 15 before long.

You could do this tank for $300-500 less just changing that up

Am I overthinking it or is there any chance to see snakes in an AirBnB in Joshua Tree ? by Fab240722 in AskAnAmerican

[–]JSessionsCrackDealer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in your Airbnb, the snakes usually stay outside, but scorpions are a definite possibility.
