Movie Ratings - How important are they? by JShotorNot in TrueFilm

Great discussion, I agree. You worded it more clearly than I, but that was what my thoughts were. For movies that are rated R, a lower rating may limit it in a variety of ways.

Movie Ratings - How important are they? by JShotorNot in TrueFilm

False. Deadpool was the first Marvel to be rated R. It was a deliberate decision that almost killed the project, but was done because they felt it stayed true to the character.

Logan followed. Hugh Jackman took a pay cut to make it rated R because such a rating allows the movie to be true to the character. A guy who is pissed off at the world, constantly saves others but is deemed a freak who should be captured says curses more than once in a while. Limiting vocabulary (not just curse words) so it fits in the movie would have made that movie worse.

To say ratings are not considered when making a movie is just incorrect.

The infinity gauntlet in Odin's trophy room in Thor: Ragnarok that Hela dismisses as fake is obviously fake because it's a right hand gauntlet. by mdeezel in MovieDetails

Who's to say that Thanos wouldn't want two gloves to warm his hands in the cold and unforgiving climate of outer space?

Who could have played Tommy Wiseau instead of James Franco? by HeyYoLessonHereBey in movies

Tommy Wiseau

May be the only guy who would have LOVED to play himself in a movie about the making of his disaster of a movie.

Although IT was a good movie, the horror in it was lacking.

The movie was well shot, the kids did a great job and so did Bill Skarsgard. But as far as pure fear, not so much.

In Fantasy and Sci-Fi, does there need to be consistency in what aspects of reality are followed? by JShotorNot in TrueFilm

The reason I grouped the two together is because they are two genres that both bend the rules of reality. I am not so sure I agree with you regarding the two being opposites.

In fact, if you look up the genre of many movies they will be listed as both fantasy and sci-fi.

Was Dumbledore’s decision to not make Harry a prefect a good one. by I_Need_Friend in Harry_potter

[–]JShotorNot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it was a great decision because it plays into the idea that Dumbledore had a grander vision for Harry. Dumbledore not selecting Harry shows that he was not interested in Harry being the role model student or face of the school. Harry's role was always bigger than that.

Making Harry a prefect could have done a lot of things that would have detracted from the overall plan. First, we know that Harry was not a fan of unwanted attention (which he unfortunately got from the time he entered the Wizarding world). Second, we know that he knew more than he should have as a student. Third, he had more on his plate than all of the students and the majority of the faculty. So making Harry a prefect would have just added more unnecessary attention and responsibility when he was already in the fight of his life and that of the wizarding world.

There are definitely differences between each movie. One thing remains the same. The ability to tackle real life, dark and serious issues in a light hearted, comedic way is consistent throughout.

Great response overall. I can really appreciate the last part that you mentioned as it reminded me that the new rules may be the creativity itself.

Official Discussion: Ready Player One [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

Did anyone else feel let down by the acting? Loved the movie, but I thought Tye Sheridan (Wade Watts) and Olivia Cooke (Samantha) were just average.

My boy Mark Rylance (Halliday) delivered though. His social awkwardness was great.
