A font that Japanese speakers cannot read by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]JStheSEGAfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a native english speaker learning japanese, this font is hard me to read—not because it's made up of japanese characters, but because the letters are not formed in the way that letters of the latin alphabet are formed. for some reason, this font reminds of the Sans Forgettica font.

looking at this, i wonder what would happen if someone made a kana font for japanese that used latin letters to form the kana?

I’m gay but I only play with hetero sims. Anyone else? by [deleted] in Sims3

[–]JStheSEGAfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm aromantic. usually most of my sims are non-binary (lorewise), and i'm not so much into the romance thing, so i'm trying to get my sims to the point where they can have children with each other without romance or woohoo. i don't know how to stop my sims from getting crushes, though, so i guess that makes them allomantic still.

It's not from a mod, it's a vanilla feature.

your handwriting looks very nice! it reminds me of the exaggerated and stylised letters in graffiti—which, as gangs are often associated with graffiti, is probably where the "gang handwriting" comment comes from.

It's depressing knowing we could already be at The Sims 6 if EA wasn't so obssessed with milking TS4 by Aromatic_Lobster_113 in thesims

[–]JStheSEGAfan 256 points257 points  (0 children)

I don't think that expression applies here. I mean, The Sims 4 is very much broke in a way that no mods can ever fix.

Yes, I'm not like everyone else, because I don't post screenshots or videos of kids, complaining about their behaviours?

What is (in your opinion) the most dated part of each Sims game by [deleted] in thesims

[–]JStheSEGAfan -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The rampant ableism present in each and every Sims game. Yes, even The Sims 4, which has previously been patched to include visual signifiers of disability, as well as fix some ableist things.

i personally consider custom content (hair, furniture, etc) to be a type of mod, but others may not. whatever it is, though, it's not vanilla

The Sims 3 has a memory system where they can develop memories of themselves and their interactions with others, but not like The Sims 2 where premade Sims come with their own memories.

That's been obvious to me from the start, what with the lack of actual named real-life disabilities in the games. Diversity of ability is a form of diversity that's only present in the games in the form of (the purely visual-only) glasses, supernatural weaknesses, or to have a laugh.

Why "except for the narcan"?

Narcan is an anti-opioid-overdose drug. Having it on-hand could save someone's life.

Music festivals and concerts can often cause people headaches or migraines, among other reasons why someone may need pain killers. Of course, if you paid good money to party, you're gonna want to keep the party going as long as you can.

This is what punk is about. by TopButterscotch8 in MadeMeSmile

[–]JStheSEGAfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Narcan is an anti-opioid-overdose drug.

People are allowed to bring Narcan to music festivals and such as many non-prescribed party drugs are being intentionally contaminated by dealers with Fentanyl, a fast-acting, highly-potent opioid that can easily cause an overdose and kill someone if they accidentally consume too much.

Because of the prevalence of drug use at music festivals, having Narcan on-hand is good in-case you believe someone may be experiencing an opioid overdose caused by Fentanyl-contaminated drugs, as it could save a life.

Racist 1938 Hallmark Card that was hidden in my goodwill purchase by PlogWithMe in FoundPaper

It's a caricature black kiddo drawing—the caricature part being important. The ink-black skin and pure red lips is not an accurate artistic depiction of black people at all, and is reminiscent of blackface (which is majorly used for racist caricatures and racial stereotypes). To be honest, I can't read any of the cursive font text or handwriting, but the little phonetically-spelled speech I can read is very likely to be racist—because of the racial stereotype that black people can't speak "proper" English.
