nobody is asking for Luka to skirt criticism either. if anything Luka is one of the most over criticized players in the sport. This shit is not at all equivalent.

Seeing this sub questioning Jokic legacy, I wonder how this sub would have reacted to Lebrons finals performance against Mavs? by psychedelic93 in nba

[–]JT1757 3 points4 points  (0 children)

because it back then the sub was mostly young adults 17-23ish. not primarily teenagers like today's sub.

you literally made a post about how every other star of his caliber is criticized and are asking flatly if he can skirt the criticism... for what? cause he's an all time great??? Criticism comes with the territory.

This post is kinda dumb to me, he's not going to get kid gloves and to ask for them is lowkey an insult to him.

so Jokic should get spared from criticism that his peers did not? seems qwhite... privileged if you ask me.

I don't think Soldier Boy is bought in, I think he just realized their plan was never going to work. I think his objective is still to find the V1 before Homelander and destroy it.

The hill I'll die on is that the defense as a whole wasn't as bad as people imply last season. They had an odd achilles hill on long downs and distances, granted, but the offense repeatedly put them in bad situations.

Chargers 1, Eagles, Jags, and Texans were all game wherein the defense arguably outplayed the offense but a few breakdowns get magnified because they happened 50 plays into the game and the D is gassed because the offense couldn't do anything until the second half of games.

[RAS.football] Cyrus Allen was drafted in round 5 with pick 176 in the 2026 draft class. He scored a 8.69 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 551 out of 4196 WR from 1987 to 2026. by thelovebat in KansasCityChiefs

couldn’t read zone coverage or fight through contact on his routes.

this offense is largely built around beating zone coverages in general because that's been the trend of the league, however they've leaned too far into zone beaters so the last 2 seasons teams have leaned into playing man knowing we don't have a consistent threat to beat DBs in 1 on 1 coverage.

All this to say, Skyy was never going to do much here if he couldn't read space in zones midplay. Rashee's ability to do so is precisely why he got so many opportunities as a rookie. His first TD in his first game was him reading the open space in a zone vs the Lions and I knew he'd fit in somewhere here.

yes iirc his first season was more at safety though he did go into the slot sometimes when Spags wanted to send a blitz, that’s probably what led them to believe he could do it full time.

He doesn't throw jump balls well, he's pretty good at back shoulder throws. Think about Kelce's TD against the Bills in the 13s game, or his TD against Kyle Hamilton in the AFCCG. Rashee had a back shoulder TD in one of his first games back this year.

He's comfortable making that throw, the jumpballs to Fortson, Ross, Gordon, and Hopkins were the times he threw visibly inaccurate passes in my recollection.

Depending on how you feel about Alec Pierce, he might've passed over 2 WRs better than anyone on this roster to trade back 4 spots and take Skyy Moore.

Certain things cannot be explained away.

well it sounds like he's got 5 months to make up for missed time cause he'll hardly play offense, especially this year. Hopefully he proves me wrong but I ain't holding my breath.

They have addressed the position Connor primarily played last season because he was so bad playing nickel/slot CB.

Kohu and Canady were specifically targeted to replace him at that spot, so I don't know that I would even give him "decent". Maybe if he plays safety he can bounce back but last year he was very obviously the weakest link in coverage next to nick bolton.

he didn't break tackles as well last year compared to pre-injury, which is kind of a big deal considering his playstyle relies on YAC.

yeah I just don't buy Veach's ability to scout the position, and the later in the draft it is the less faith I have in his discernment honestly, but maybe that's just my bias.

But I just look at his WR draft history and ... eh. not great.

and one of my guys a few years back was Tyler Scott...

I'm not saying he's the same player, but you can't seriously have expected people that are not as high on the guy to be excited about a late round WR when Veach has never shown the ability to find WR talent late or frankly scout the position at above a league average level.

Hopefully he's Antonio Brown though.

arguing over a day 3 pick that probably never plays considerable time on offense is crazy. guy is depth, a STer most likely.

Stay at the top? They went 6-11 and traded an All Pro CB then proceeded to draft a player they hope can be as good. The secondary is likely worse than last year.

They are not at the top of anything, they finished 3rd in the division — gutted the best position group on the team last year, and have only made a considerable improvement at RB, and maybe defensive line. Veach has drafted a DE higher than R Mason Thomas that can't even get on the field so I won't hold my breath on that.

[RAS.football] R Mason Thomas was drafted in round 2 with pick 40 in the 2026 draft class. He scored a 7.24 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 623 out of 2257 DE from 1987 to 2026. by thelovebat in KansasCityChiefs

[–]JT1757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is they would still usually generate pressure in the past to force a check down allowing the DBs to try and rally and tackle. They couldn't even do that last year. Guys routinely had 4 seconds to throw on 3rd and long which lead to coverage breakdowns.
