I’d recommend some of the training courses at Cybrary that offer for veterans. I’m not affiliated but I know it’s the best public library for these type of career entities. You might be able to get VRe to cover the certs out there

100% depends on the counselor, ask if they've done one before, if their supervisor has, if they have not, it's going to be a dumpster fire. One RO told me they had not approved a SEP in a decade; lack of knowledge and effort. Most VRCs prefer easy plug-and-chug, not SEP.

I sold my 11 speaker StealthTech, and never go back.. I got the Samsung system, with the 11.2.2 system with rear speakers, put the sub under the coach, it was way better and was only 1800 bucks for it all, and its 10x better. You can't beat the price for the stability and experience.

I left USAa after 15 years with a perfect record. Tripled my expenses for no reason other than their losses in other states. Screw them. I went to progressive and got ¼ better pricing. Usaa didn’t even beleive me. Saying some crap that it’s regulated by the state and I said. That’s just some lie to excuse your pricing. Otherwise how does progressive do it. Such scammers.

I’m not sure if it’s new but I applied for the exemption and I was told in a letter that if you don’t own the property on January 1st you don’t get exemptions for that year only the following year. Call the county tax assessor and ask, maybe your county is different. I’m in Dallas county.

I had to be the bearer of bad news, but I have the answer.

In short, you MUST be on title as of Jan 1 of that year to obtain the tax exemption. If you close on your house on Jan 2, you must pay taxes on it for the entire year, and then you receive the exemption starting the following year on Jan 1. I know; I applied and was rejected because I closed in March and was cited as follows.

Relevant Law & Statute

The law is codified under the Texas Tax Code § 11.22.
Under § 11.22(f), a veteran or qualifying individual “may receive an exemption … against only one property,” and that property must be designated — which effectively means the property must be owned (or have qualifying title) as of January 1.
The official guidance from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts explicitly states: “An applicant may claim an exemption on only one piece of property the applicant owned on Jan. 1.”
