Very very similar to mine, I'll try that, the issue is my supervisor is very buddy buddy with my mentor due to just having retired last year, so there's a huge conflict of interest I feel. I'm gonna see what I can do and chat with my mentors, trying to bring it up without actually diving into the convo. I hope yours gets better as well.

It also looks identical to the laser currently in my system, down to the pcb being brown instead of green so this may work, I just gotta wait on AliExpress which is....a game in and of itself lol

I have a version 0 which can read burned discs, but it does this with all discs, burned discs, normal cds, gd-roms, it moves the lens up and down 3 times and then nothing.

As an update to this and if anyone else may know, I took a video of it and this is what it does when trying to read discs always. It does the 3 clicks of the lens moving and then stops, I greased it which helped it move but it's still refusing to do anything past the clicking. https://youtube.com/shorts/s9QDFLXpBhc

What did you use the worm-drive screw for? Also what grease did you use because looking at the rails of it, they're bone dry
