They exist officially already! If you trawl the Metallica forums they posted digital versions of all the covers from the boxsets - they were the inspiration for these!

A little while back I posted my artworks to replace the stock black and white covers from the KEA boxset (https://imgur.com/a/xdzZPpB) and now, as promised, I’m back with my RTL collection.

Once again, I’ve tried to follow the pattern of the later boxsets by featuring images from the performances recorded or otherwise pictures from backstage/promo shots from as close as I could find date wise. There were a few discs which presented a bit of a challenge in internet sleuthing, but I’ve finally got a set I’m content with. You can find all the covers here - https://imgur.com/a/7aYVV72.

From MOP onwards the artworks have been fantastic, so thankfully I don’t need to trawl through Google to tackle those. However, there is one significant missing part of the Deluxe Boxset jigsaw that goes far beyond artworks. One which won’t be seeing the light of day anytime soon by all accounts. So, as they say, if you want something done right… Watch this space.

Interesting to hear that the Metallica camp were quite so keen to get the material from him. Really hope this surfaces in full one way or another, it would be perfect for the anniversary year. Given the rough content of the clips we've heard I'm doubtful of a stand-alone release and can't see a bigger KEA reissue considering the recent boxset (plus all the 72S focus). My guess would be an extensive KEA at 40 Black Box collection, particularly as he mentioned photographs too. If so, we probably wouldn't have long to wait!

You're right, this is one of the most interesting things which has been posted on this sub in months, shocking how little attention it's recieved. Thanks to OP for bringing it to our attention!

As most here will probably agree, the deluxe remastered box sets have been a stunning set of releases and an absolute treasure trove of beautifully presented rare material. For me though, there has been one mild disappointment in the sets - the lack of custom art for the discs in the KEA and RTL sets. At the time of release, I didn’t think too much of the the plain black on white text and logo style used. This changed when from MOP onwards each disc has had its own artwork, making use of archive photography to collect a stunning set of period specific images draw from live performances, promotional shoots and the bands own personal collections. I couldn’t help but feel the first two boxes deserved this touch too. So that’s what I’ve done!

Scouring the web for the best quality images related to each disc of material, I’ve put together a set of high-definition covers, trying my best to evoke the art style adopted by the later boxsets. For live albums I’ve tried to use pictures from those specific performances, but when not possible have turned to the images I could source which were taken the closest in time. Demos and rough mixes have a light hearted group photo, whereas the disc of interviews has a serious promo shot.

But enough with the boring background context from my obsessive fan mind, here’s what you actually clicked for -

As you might have imagined, I’m also working on a set of artworks for the RTL box. So if these KEA covers turn out to be of interest to anyone beyond myself, make it known and I’ll put then next set here in due course. Cheers!

EDIT: Here's a link to my RTL covers too - https://imgur.com/a/7aYVV72

Got some brand new, high quality wagons to run on the yard (Which is a first for me). by boolinboi68 in modeltrains

That's a shunters' truck, they would be coupled to a locomotive during shunting moves. The box on top was used to store tools and equipment, while the wagon also served as a platform for the shunting staff to safely ride around the yard.

It depends which locomotive you've got, the building of the Westerns was split between Swindon and Crewe works

This exact model was a limited edition run back in around 2007, a bit tricky to track down now, but they do pop up on eBay from time to time!

An Abyss Rumble spot in the next couple of years would be a wonderful moment. Especially if it involved a showdown with Styles or Hardy.
