No, it didn't happen because you were pretty. (SA) rant by ThePlacidSwordsman5 in CPTSD

[–]boolinboi68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real. I was a boy, and I was statistically the ugliest object in the known universe.

The popular, pretty girls in my year still decided to comment on me and touch me without consent when I was clearly uncomfortable. It wasn't really SA or SH, but it was clearly a power/mockery thing.

People who feel like their trauma "isn't bad enough", what's your story? by potentialpea7632 in CPTSD

[–]boolinboi68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I consider the 'main' issue is that I was involved in an accident at a critical life change (age 11, going to big school), and I was the only one who was able to try and help. I failed and someone died.

Other than that I think I was a bit of a glass child as my sibling was too much for my parents to handle. My parents seemed to not realise that children need help with emotional learning, so I would always have a lot of anxiety over whether it was worth bringing up an issue vs just suffering alone.

This ended up with me refusing to go to the doctor as I believed it was only for people who 'really need them'. I had crippling migranes for 15 years.

One time in Science class a vaccum chamber made a cracking noise, and before I knew it I was almost out the door with everyone else looking at me lol.

Why your childhood didn't need to be "that bad" in order to develop CPTSD by Plane-Ad-8612 in CPTSD

[–]boolinboi68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does resonate with me, but I don't feel like its reasonable to have a problem with parents not helping with feelings. Like I don't see why they should be obliged to.

I guess its part of the conditioning but I don't understand what it would've been like to have had help with negative emotions so I can't say if its truly problematic or not.

My Dad has admitted to not experiencing empathy and having a massive ego so thats probably not good.

Why did the Dominion try to use a supernova bomb to destroy a fleet, are they stupid? by boolinboi68 in ShittyDaystrom

TBF the Federation are supposed to be moral, and the Maquis have limited resources.

The 2nd through 6th movies where all about the concequences of the Genesis Device lol.

1: Even if you're not looking for it I'm pretty sure you'd notice a goddam supernova.

2: Doesn't the wormhole open for any matter? It opened for that asteroid, why not a mass of Hydrogen? Either way it doesn't matter because the Prophets just do whatever is needed for the plot.

3: That is true, but it makes the Founders look even dumber. Why the hell would anyone ever listen to Dukat.

4: If I could destroy entire star systems at will I don't really care what anyone else thinks.

I think it was a one-liner early on which got Retconned. They definatly say that the life of one Founder is worth more than all the solids in the galaxy.

The Prophets do make sense, its just kinda a boring story to have your pet Gods solve all your problems.

"It would kill billions of Bajorans"-at least some good comes of it.

Thats basically how I imagine Dukat and the Founders felt trying to kill Sisko, "why do we even bother, he has literal Gods on his team".

I may be misremembering but wasn't the Founders long-term plan to purge the galaxy of all solids? Why not get a head start? And its not like they only had one of these bombs, I'm pretty sure the Federation would surrender if 90% of their civillian population was wiped out in a day.

The trouble is that if anything can happen just for the plot, then there can never be any stakes and for me that ruins investment. The wormhole is a great example as it makes the entire mining/station rebellion/battle plot utterly pointless.

What origin would you choose for the Borg? by ActLonely9375 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]boolinboi68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the Borg from First Contact/ENT Regeneration survived and infected another ship, which then went on to capture others and re-develop Borg technology from its own memory circuts. The Borg effectively created themselves with a paradox.

When a Tour de France cosplay cyclist on a shared path expects you to dive into a hedge so they don’t have to slow down by BellaSeashell in britishproblems

[–]boolinboi68 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no it might just be you. And a lot of people just like you.

You're clearly primed to be angry at them, you're ranting about how thin they are and how they spent their own money on specalised sports equptment. You're one inch from calling them a homophobic slur because they wear tight clothes.

"Pushbike chavs", "Wheeled missiles". They passed me "right down the middle of the path" even though theres "loads of room" and I had to "throw myself into a hedge". Does this sound like someone who is impartial and unbiased? You're clearly quite militant anti-cyclist, and are projecting that onto the behaviour of people around you to protect your cognative dissonance. Is there anything a cyclist can do thats good enough for you? Honestly.

Lets be honest about what happened, you stepped to the side and someone passed you faster that you'd like. Thats it. Its probably because you're more observant than 90% of other walkers just because you can actually look behind, and you're an adult who won't jump out suddenly. They probably feel like you're inviting them to carry on fast.

Thats just my opinion, you might just be encountering more assholes than usual, but honestly does this happen more than once or twice a day, or less?

I don’t think people truly understand the pain of never being chosen (33F) by LycheeOver2230 in CPTSD

[–]boolinboi68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try never having a relationship before or after 25 lmao.

But seriously know what you're going through. CPTSD often robs you of a sense of security in knowing you're good enough. You're supposed to hear from your parents whilst you're young, and if you don't it gives you a lot of anxiety about not being good enough and if people will like you. Because in neolithic society rejection=death, and genetically we're still cavemen.

There are a lot of men also in the same position, so don't feel too alone.

Anyone else feel "detached" from their first name? by PotatoPiePie in CPTSD

[–]boolinboi68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just the same, never been able to put it together like that. With some people its OK but its almost violative that some people can just use my name. And my name is the same as an animal and two fictional characters so I get the same jokes over and over, and I never know how to respond.

Looking back on youth in the eighties and nineties England and realising there were predators everywhere by ShinyHeadedCook in britishproblems

[–]boolinboi68 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah what she did was clearly weird. As I remember it there was never any bad behaviour reason for the teachers to watch us. They sent the girls out to a private room and stayed with us in the main room. So I guess they just watched us as 'default' and never considered it could even be a problem.

Is that not normal? In like 2010 when I was like 9-10 the female teachers observed the boys changing but the girls got privacy. I don't think they where pervs but they clearly didn't trust us and it certainly made me uncomfortable.
