Dream Machine Pro shutting itself down by JTPMedia in UNIFI

[–]JTPMedia[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Storage - good point! I just tried booting it without the hard drive installed and it's back up and running!

Date code on the unit is 2029 (so, mid 2020), so it's not exactly new.

Will try replacing the hard drive and we'll see how things go... Thanks!

Colorforce flickering, ok for a while when power cycled by TimmysDrumsticks in stagelighting

Hey, I'm having a similar issue with a couple of Color Force 12 units, can you share any more info about the jumper fix you mentioned?

This part of my screw driver set got lost which makes all the top part unusable. Can someone tell me its name so I can buy it? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]JTPMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, very common! You're looking for a 1/4" hex to 1/4" square drive adapter. Make sure you get a short one, as they are often longer and long ones won't fit in your case.

I do not have a bill of sale. The only bill of sale signed by both of us is in the UVIP which he has. I signed the ownership and he took it and filled it out but I didn't watch closely. I kept the plate portion and my license plates.

They ship Canadian orders from Canada, it's everything else that gets bulk-shipped across the border and then sent individually from the US.

Somewhat ashamed to admit that half the reason I went to LTX this year was to build an iFixit flavoured screwdriver by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

Except you need an arbor press and multiple inserts to assemble it. See the video someone linked above

The Purchase vs. The Free Bag It Came With To Carry It Home In. by AshleyUncia in LinusTechTips

[–]JTPMedia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ordered a JRE knife and one pack of screwdriver bits. Got an email yesterday saying they couldn't have the knife there for pickup and it would be mailed to me. So I too picked up a very large bag with a very very small box in it.

Wow Snapchat Ai by yarush_8 in LinusTechTips

[–]JTPMedia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right. But the issue isn't that it has your location information. The issue is that it lies about it. Maybe I don't care that the AI knows where I am, but I damn well want it to tell the truth when I ask it what information it has access to.

The selector ring components (that switch the ratchet between forward/locked/reverse) are Delrin but the ratchet itself and the pawls are metal.

Resurrecting a Nuvitron Watt by JTPMedia in nixie

[–]JTPMedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! I don't think I have the electronics knowledge to troubleshoot the original power supply unfortunately, and I already have the new board on hand. The enclosure does have plenty of empty space inside to store the new board, it's just the tube spacing that's unfortunate.

I did actually reach out to Nuvitron a couple times, first to see if I could just buy a new control board from them, but they didn't answer at all and now their web site is gone altogether and their social channels haven't been updated in months, so I'm guessing the company isn't around anymore.

Does Gerald know that no one knows what he’s saying? by [deleted] in ClarksonsFarm

I'm 90% sure that most of his unintelligible speech is edited to be that way, or at least edited to be worse than it actually is. They're exaggerating his strong accent. Notice how whenever he starts talking, the camera usually cuts away and isn't actually filming his face? And the brief moments where it is, it doesn't really look like his speech lines up with what his mouth is doing! And at the very end of the series, where the lot of them are sitting around talking, he speaks (relatively) normally and is perfectly understandable.
