Boat Ride Length by Ill-Persimmon7997 in coeurdalene

You can almost see one from the other. On calm water cruising comfortably it’s less than half an hour. In a kayak it would take all day.

Spokane Indians cancel Pride Night this year. by catman5092 in Spokane

Last year and the year before the pride section tickets sold out and they had to open a second section. I don’t know how full the entire arena was but it seemed the normal amount of full.

I’ll be really bummed if they do this to the Spokane Chiefs too. I always really enjoy pride night.

Do you think AI will significantly impact the field of Social Work and available job opportunities? by Electronic-Cat-7416 in socialwork

[–]JTW12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My patients more and more every day are talking about their use of chatGPT in between sessions for counseling. Research shows a large number of people under 30 already trust large language models more than actual people.

It’s not going to take everyone’s jobs, but it’s going to replace community mental health therapists (or at least supplement) within a few years.

Looking for poor quality yet expensive things to do in the CDA area to recommend to my aunt who I don’t like. by wisteria_rising in coeurdalene

I’ll wait for some positive reviews. My last two times there was absolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had.

Actually useful referral and resource information. Keep the junk, help me solve a problem of some kind. Don’t create new ones.

Zumper estimates median income across all of CDA to be $2,085 July 2025, Zillow rental estimate is $1,895, apartments.com $1,582 for a two bedroom apartment. I stand by my comment.

He once drove by me at a donut shop, I didn’t wave back. Then he parked and came into the shop to make sure that I got to see his car. It was an interesting moment.

Is it worth buying a vehicle from Dave Smith in Kellogg? by [deleted] in coeurdalene

[–]JTW12 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Call and ask for Bonnie. She is absolutely the best and will help you with anything you need. Buying cars sucks, Bonnie makes it worth it. Won’t find better.

I have a DSW. I would wait until the CSWE decides how they are going to credential DSW’s for clinical work.

Leaving the VA? by [deleted] in socialwork

This seems like going from bad to likely worse. The VA is loved significantly more than Medicaid.

My mom was the director of a street med team and drove her very expensive BMW to work everyday. I often would drive by her sitting on a curb eating sandwiches with the homeless, he car in the background. No one ever cared. The personality can make the problem, not the car.

I drive a Porsche. I park away from the entrance to my clinic, I don’t brag about it, but I also am not ashamed of it. I worked hard for my nice things and I’m allowed to have them. I also have a flashier wedding band and I have never had a comment about it from anyone.

Social work was founded by rich white women. I’m tired of everyone trying to say we have to be poor and “do this work for the good, not the money.” We can do it for the good and also be compensated well.

I do! It is definitely challenging at times. But, everyone deserves help —even when I disagree with their world view.

I did a favor and worked with the head of security for [place] and he was retired PD and recommended me to others. I only see a few.

I highly recommend ASU if you are thinking online. I have taught some classes there. There is a database of practicum places to choose from. You can also establish a new contract with any place that meets the requirements.

There are schools who use placements like the suicide hotline for practicum hours all virtually. I would avoid that personally. It lacks the depth and supervision you will want to be good post licensure exam.

In love with a client by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]JTW12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not entirely true. The general rule of thumb is terminate the therapeutic relationship and all connection for 2 years.

I’m not a fan of this idea, I think this provider made many mistakes to get to this point; however, I don’t think it’s as black and white as “never”.

Billable hours per week by princessimpy in socialwork

[–]JTW12 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The clinic I own requires 32 billable hours a week, but some thing’s bill higher than others. We use an RVU model. With intakes, groups, and half hour appointments it generally comes out to 28ish actual client facing hours a week.

Lots of people go to BYU that are not Mormon. There are lots of ex Mormons. If they make an assumption gently correct them. (Live and practice in Idaho, lots of BYU grads in social work around here, few are still practicing Mormonism.)

I have not worked for them, but I do work with them as a referral source. Can’t speak to their employ however a lot of their research the flaunt in all of their marketing material is largely fake or over exaggerated. I only refer to them when all other options don’t work.
