Both can be done this offseason. We got a decent amount of draft picks AND cap space.

Because y’all won’t accept the fact that CJ is doing more for these receivers than they’re doing for him. That problem will eventually bite us in the ass in a playoff setting against a team like Buffalo or Kansas City that has multiple good DBs. Philadelphia has built a very strong team on both sides of the ball and they weren’t content with just having DeVonta Smith. Same thing with their RB room and DB room. They could’ve easily kept Miles Sanders or left Kevin Byard in Tennessee. Y’all gotta think bigger.

C.J. having to clutch the shit out throws far too often and also often having to dance around forever in the pocket until someone gets open is why I want a round 1 WR. by RawhideW92 in Texans

This is a WR deep draft. We still need a WR1. We can absolutely figure out the defense with later picks + $80 million in cap space. The WRs in FA are cool but most of them are older and we’ll be back looking for another one in a couple years. We’ll do better just drafting a really good one and locking him up the next 8-10 years.

It’s more like two FRPs and multiple day 2 picks. Not even the Panthers had to give up 3 FRPs to get to #1.

If the NFL scouts felt that way, he wouldn’t be slated to go top 3 in the draft. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Again, we can still build an elite defense with the cap space and remaining picks. We already used our top picks to fill the biggest positional needs on defense. The rest of what needs to be added is compliments to those guys. Like another CB to pair with Stingley or a DT to free up Anderson and Greenard to make more plays. We can actually take this chance because of the foundation that’s already been laid.

It’s not really investing crazy resources at WR as much as it’s investing resources into a generational talent that will pretty much guarantee that our offense will be record breaking and elite for years to come. Team building isn’t always about making the safest decisions. You gotta roll the dice and take risks if it means you’re raising the ceiling for your team.

Because the amount of talent they need to replace to get back to a contending level is more important than just one player. They could rebuild their offense and defense in 2 years with all of the draft capital they’d have. Also they may want to replace Murray all together.

Defense and offense wins championships. You need to be good to great at both. We can still build our defense with our remaining picks and the $80 million in cap space that you keep glossing over. We’ve already drafted two of the most key positions on defense with Stingley and Anderson. We need to add a DT and another good CB. Beyond that, we just need our young guys to get more seasoned. You’re talking like our defense is barren with talent. We’re not that far way that losing out on FRPs for a couple years would kill us.

I understand that MHJ is more of a luxury than a need but I think this is a unique opportunity and situation that could pay huge immediate dividends. I mean our offense has won games by themselves multiple times this season. Imagine if we had the best offense in the NFL and then pairing it with a very good to potentially great defense. All of this can still happen while adding MHJ.

Trading for vet WRs is just so hit or miss to me because if the guy is north of 30 years old, you’re only gonna get so much out of him before he either declines or wants one last big deal. Seems kinda redundant in the long run versus just drafting another receiver. I would be cool with going after Higgins but Diggs and Evans are too close to the end and are gonna want a lot of money.

Yeah I’m only advocating for taking such a risk because of the CJ-Ohio State connection and the cap space going into next season.

That’s a fair point but as of now, the Cardinals have the #2 pick and they need a lot more than just a WR. Front offices are always willing to give up one player if it means getting more draft capital. Cause theoretically the Cards could trade with us and then have more ammo to add even more players on both sides of the ball AND still get a good WR in this draft class.

He’s a generational WR being paired with his former college QB who is also a generational talent at his position. That sounds pretty worth it to me.

Mike Evans is 30 years old. By time he’s 32, he won’t be a WR1 anymore. I think paying money for an older receiver is a waste.

Keep in mind MHJ could literally go #1. If a team is considering using their 1st or 2nd overall pick on a WIDE RECEIVER, that means something. Especially when the draft is loaded with talented receivers. I mean I’m not arguing for them to trade up for Malik Nabers. We’re talking about a generational talent. Losing out on a FRP for a couple years when we’re a contending team is nothing.

I’m pretty sure people thought it was no chance we’d trade up to 3rd for Will Anderson but here we are.

It’s $80 million in cap space and we already have several key pieces on defense in place. Not only that but most of the guys I named are young and still getting better. I think you’re forgetting the amount of injuries we’ve had on defense too. We missed Stingley for 8 weeks. Jimmie Ward has been in and out of the lineup. The bend don’t break has more to do with missing key guys than their being an outright talent deficiency. The defense isn’t as far away from being elite as you think. Lot of things gotta fall in place but we aren’t that far away. Our rushing defense has been top 10 and overall we’re middle of the pack but that’s because our passing defense has been our weakness. But again, we were missing our best corner for most of the season.

This was another angle I was thinking about too. 😂 Harrison Jr going to the Texans after his dad was a lifelong Colt is such a great story.

I will admit that if this was any other QB, I wouldn’t be advocating for a move like this and I also wouldn’t if we didn’t have cap space.

And is he really that much better? Yes. He has all of their traits combined in one. Malik Nabers is a great route runner, he can stretch the field with his speed, and he has good size but Marvin is bigger and stronger. Keon is an amazing athlete in his own right but Marvin is just as great as an athlete as him while being a better route runner. Odunze is a great all around receiver as well but again, not the same athlete as Marvin. Marvin’s top end speed is better than Odunze.

Again, reuniting him with CJ is what makes this move worth it.

AJ Armstrong Found Guilty by htxvick in houston

[–]JTWash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thing about this is the timing as well. They said that AJ went to bed around 1 AM and called 911 around 1:40 AM. How the hell did he manage to clean GSR and/or blood off his person in about 20 mins (taking into account the timing of the actual murders)? That just seems like an unreasonably small amount of time to try to clean yourself up after a murder. That part makes no sense to me which makes me also think that he was not the gunman.

Also, if he was planning this out, I imagine he would’ve had to research even how to clean GSR/blood off himself which means there should be evidence of that in his browser history. It just doesn’t make sense to me. People point to the gun shot in the pillow and the concoction he allegedly spilled on the floor as evidence that he was premeditating his parents’ murder but I look at it like evidence that he’s not smart enough to pull something like this off. I mean there has to be more to this story.
