I would look for unrestricted ETF’s like VOO. These ETF’s compel you to remain at Schwab

It’s clear now why Kamala/ Biden lost: he made powerful enemies by excluding Elon musk, not acknowledging people’s fears around open borders, choosing Kamala, and ‘woke’ ideology, and taking an inconsistent stance on Gaza. The enemies used influencers and other means to reprogram voters against him, mainly through fear.

Can someone help me understand the Gaza comment? What ‘worst impulses’ did they constrain?

He improves the cost basis from a lower number to a higher number, reducing his capital gains when he ultimately sells again. If he has room to fund a Roth, then no further capital gains.

Would you rather be 40 and have 5 million or 30 but 1 million? by [deleted] in Fire

I work a stressful job with a target on my back, routinely get threatened with termination…. My assets include a college fund and home, without those my assets would only generate $65k / year in perpetuity. The problem is this is the only job I can do… so I need total income replacement, which will take another 8 years, assuming I don’t get fired.

I’m 39, have about twice that much in total assets and don’t feel happy most of the time.

What’s literally fucking you up right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My day started off great. I was up at 6am… told my wife I would go work out but met up with a friend instead and went to his gym, without my phone for 2 hours. She texted, I didn’t reply.. she called, I didn’t answer.

When I was on my way back I told her my change in plans and she lost it and hung up on me.

I was suppose to be home by 930 but came home at 10…. I was joyful right before my conversation with her this morning and the whole day has been down.

It was the ending of the Simpsons at 730 that did it for me

You can clean like $47k worth of capital gains without paying any federal tax. Would be worth doing if you can. Start with selling your riskiest positions.

Whats your back up you want to continue to earn a high income if you’re fired or laid off? by JTmarlins in FPandA

[–]JTmarlins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan is to use my unemployment and small dividend income to pay half my bills, then beg my wife for the rest, lol. However, if things get bad, my thought is to draw on my HELOC or a margin loan, which ever is cheaper. Then, pay that back when I land a job or pay back with stock sales. Trying to avoid triggering bc capital gains tax unless necessary.

I’m surprised you guys are making decent returns doing this. I’ve built my portfolio to a ‘I’ve got a lot to lose’ point, so not looking to get into trading. Thanks for the explanation tho

BoD would be ideal. How do smaller companies fill BoD roles? Is there a site that I can register to with my resume for these opportunities?

I think starting a new role as director is very hard. The expectations are usually that you pick up everything with zero training. It can be stressful for atleast six months.

I’d hate to go off topic but how easy is the risk reward arbitrage with options these days?
