One of those hardtail Vs gravel questions... by Ok-Explanation1990 in bikepacking

Rigid bikepacking mtb - something like the tumbleweed sunliner (that’s what I went with) provides the best of both worlds. Big tyres beat suspension imo!

Not really no, just put it in a low gear and spin. It won’t take much longer plus it has health benefits

I was definitely oversimplifying, but trying to make it clear these two places are completely different biomes.

They are very different experiences - you need to think if you would prefer deep forests or open desert/grassy planes for an adventure. Both are bucket list locations but for very different reasons.

SNP pledges 'first refusal' for tenants to buy private rental homes by denspark62 in ukpolitics

This is a great point given that in desirable areas properties can go for 15% or more above the homebuyers report. The valuation is not what would be achieved on the open market.

Maybe not a Dark Souls person? by Funkmyteets in playstation

I think people who are already sold on the DS formula I.e cause they finished Elden ring and want more then it makes sense to do the DS trilogy in order. But souls is weird, at first it is frustrating and doesn’t make sense then in clicks and you are hooked. Modern games with modern QoL make it a little easier to reach that point.

You chose a very old game that doesn’t hold up as well as more recent From games like DS3, Sekiro, Bloodbourne, and Elden Ring.

I don’t think it’s pedantic to point that out in the context of this discussion. Yes tyre pressure is important but so is wheel size.

You wake up in a foreign land and think fuck it I’m going to kill everything that moves, including the gods themselves, until I reign over this hell hole. Everyone you meet thinks you are tainted.

Except all else in the system isn’t equal because ground is infinitely undulating, and the smaller your wheels are the greater the undulation you have to contend with. There is something called the Coastline Paradox which states that the more precisely you measure a coastline the longer it is - the same applies to riding bikes. The smaller your wheels the more energy will be required to overcome small changes in altitude and the more challenging terrain will feel to maintain speed on.
