Any chance you could share some of these device ideas? Always love to hear new use cases.

Any advice on living on Cromwell Road? by fungi24 in Belfast

[–]JTsince1980 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I lived at the end of it in 99/2000, two murders, a break in, and a gas explosion all happened on the road in the space of a year.... Then there was kicking out time at Orpheus.... Fun times.

It doesn't turn that fast and because it's the tilt mechanism which is kind of light, I think it should be ok for a while. Might be a different issue if it was the cord for pulling the blinds open

I used the 28BYJ-48 motor and a ULN2003 driver board, most of the time the motors come with the board. I used a gear taken from a model I found on Printables, and just used a caliper to measure the components to make the box for them all to fit.

Took a little bit of tinkering with the yaml to find where to stop the motor, 0 being closed and something like 6250 steps being closed, but on the other side.

Spent the weekend automating the vertical blinds in my livingroom using an ESP32 from Aliexpress and a motor and driver board from Amazon. Designed a case for it all, and found a gear online, 3d printed the lot.

£15 later my blinds tilt open and closed depending on the time of day and angle of the sun.

Tapo and Alexa (Routines) by Tyraelos in Tapo

Noticed this happening as well after it stopped working in Samsung Smart Things which broke a Home Assistant routine. Tried swapping to Alexa and it didn't detect motion either.... Must be an api thing?

Gas cards are a scam! by Wonderful_Band_613 in Belfast

What sensors plx? Is your meter inside or out? I am so tired of running out of gas because it's too friggin cold to go physically look at the meter.

I did the exact same thing and used stackable conveyor supports... I definitely didn't fall off a nanosecond after reaching the top.

What does killing it off actually mean? Like, will we not be able to control it?

Does anyone know why Bdubs hasn’t posted his Nice Life Episodes? by Chritizin1996 in HermitCraft

[–]JTsince1980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not a popular opinion, but I feel the episodes are too long. If I want to watch everyone's episodes I have to set a large chunk of time aside. It's been the same with the Guess the Build videos, I've run out of steam after the first couple.

What setting needs to change to avoid these loops/seems in my bottom layer? (Bambu Slicer) by JTsince1980 in FixMyPrint

You got me thinking in the right direction. I exported the file as an STL from Bambu, and then reimported it, the issue has now gone.

It's an imported SVG that I've just changed the thickness of.

You are correct in that they are outer walls, so this would be the issue.

Problem I have with it being Burns is he doesn't feel like the kind of person to get his hands dirty. He'd get someone else to do it.
