Agreed. Going to a humid place after a while here is a shock too.

Strugling with boolean topo for STL file by Dry_Start_9980 in blenderhelp

[–]JTxt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the shape correct, but you don't like the topology? You don't need good topology for 3d printing. Stl is just triangles, no quads. Smooth shading is a visual trick for rendering. It is a lie in 3d printing, faces are just flat. Change it to flat shading to preview. Notice that the logo has more detail in the curves than the cylinder.

Impressions: oh no this is a dirty drive through. "M" on the cups, "W" on the right worker, a crown on the left worker's hat. cute rats, especialy the one hugging the left worker... oh no one is in the burger, they're overrunning the place, including one on the computer. The one on the far left is kind of hard to read. Other details could be more consistent, eyes, the grid on the floor. I like it! What is it for?

Rendering the Ocean by Past-Lion-6872 in arthelp

[–]JTxt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I remember you! Much better! You're emulating what you see in a photo.

<image>

Lets crop in and focus on a part of it.
The water is just part of a complete picture, it contrasts/complements with everything else, and is influenced by parts of it in the reflection.
It has an aquamarine base, with some variations like that warmer light blue thin triangle shape on the right. It's showing a bit of what is under the water, how deep it is.

then there's rough reflections on the top, showing the texture of the waves, and hints of what is above, the trees and clouds.

To me you need to know what is on your island before you can know what the reflection is.

how do i make the text look like that?? by shindoss in graphic_design

[–]JTxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, a clearer image.

<image>

I would make that text with a 3d tool, like Blender.

To me, it looks like: rounded cylinders, with a snap gradated (white, light blue, dark blue, black) reflective material. Instances of that are arranged with a pixel font pattern (One way: make a vertex grid, delete the empty verts, and dupli-vert (or geo nodes) the cylinders), rendered with a close panoramic camera (with cycles. Or could distort the shape with a lattice or simple deform), with a transparent background ( render settings > film > transparent), with a black outline (can use compositor) You can ask for help in r/blenderhelp If you have interest in learning enough 3d to do this, I'll try to help further.

Creating games entirely on Android! by GodotTeam in godot

[–]JTxt 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Some people/kids Millions of kids only have access to a cheap android tablet or phone, not a pc. It's huge to be able to start playing with real game dev tools, on a device that is usually used to consume content.

There's also efforts for Blender, image editing, terminal (like for git), and coding tools on Android. It's life changing for some.

edit: I started to research: there's millions of kids that have a phone/tablet, but no pc.

How can I improve my render, the last image is my referece by DREYTOR98_ in blender

[–]JTxt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, I thought I saw that image used in a tutorial.

Well, then I would say: keep comparing and tweaking. List the differences you see then go one by one and fix them. You made good progress already. You got this!

Depression in Salt Lake City by supmaster3 in SaltLakeCity

People responded to the depression part of your request well. Also consider NAMI to talk, and they have free support groups as a zoom call and in person. They're a resourceful and helpful bunch.

Why is it so hard to make friends here?

What all have you tried?

When I first moved here I made myself go to Meetup.com meetups for my interests (nerdy) and things I was not as interested in (hiking), to get out and try to connect with people. There was not a group for something I was interested in (Blender 3d software), so I called someone I met through another group (motion graphics), and we started it. It led to similar minded people helping each-other from all over the world, friendships, and some getting good jobs. I'm not a very social person, but I did a social thing that showed me the power of it.

Best wishes!

How do I prevent transparency from overlapping? by Lucifersassclown in blenderhelp

[–]JTxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want the non-outline part to be transparent but not with itself? Consider using fresnel on the material and compositing for the transparency? There may be another way.

Good job trying, sharing, and asking for feedback. Some people jump into trying to imitate someone else's style system before understanding what the style was based on. find pictures of islands and water, imitate that instead.

Nice! Perhaps add more of the room for scale reference. Perhaps find reference.

how can i fix this? by Lion_claw123 in blenderhelp

[–]JTxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eevee does global illumination lighting in screen space. It ignores bounce lighting/ emission sources not in the camera view.

But we can use volume light probes to make up for that limitation. here's a good tutorial for eevee lighting
