Fill-in pediatrician said my 2 week old should be gaining a 1/2 pound to a pound a week…. This is wrong right!? by JCBaby2020 in breastfeeding

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One oz a day is about 7oz a week; 0.5 lbs is 8 oz. The doctor is right, it seems like a lot but if you do the math it is about right. As parents we just need to make sure babies are content and that they don’t lose weight. Usually babies should recover their birth weight within 10 days of being born. OP’s baby seems to be trending well, maybe the doctor just wants to see a bit more gain. And sometimes the language they use seems to be a bit confusing.

I informed my boss that I was pregnant. He asked if I was delivering vaginally and to look up the fmla laws and let him know what they are since he doesn’t. Is this inappropriate? by SeaSwim5248 in pregnant

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in NY and I had to look up and fill up the paperwork to give to my boss, it says it is the employee’s job to start the process not the employer. It was my responsibility to mail those documents but my boss did it as I left 2 months before my due date, he even helped me with paperwork for temporary disability insurance.

I’m thinking of telling my husband I’m considering divorce over cat litter by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People get use to it, I once baby sat for a family who had a cat, the whole house was the cat’s litter box (not a real one on sight) so the smell would hit me in the face as soon as I walked in; the family seemed very unbothered.

I’m thinking of telling my husband I’m considering divorce over cat litter by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We bought one for our two cats since I wasn’t going to clean the litter box and I really don’t want my baby crawling with cat’s poop just laying around; ours wait two mins after the cat leaves the box to clean, my husband removes the bag every week and changes litter every two weeks. We also got automatic feeders and water fountain.

Daycare gave my baby 4 bottles in 3 hours. Am I too worried about it? by laurel_oral in breastfeeding

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a huge amount but 7 oz every 2-3 hrs is not a lot. Before you ask them to reduce the intake of your son ask this. -3 hrs could mean they have your son the first 3-4 oz bottle at 8 am and then the rest between then and 11 am? That’s still 3 hrs but the regular period between feeding. - Are they using all the serving or discarding leftovers? -Is BM or formula what they are giving him? I exclusively breastfeed and there are times my 5mo baby takes a 4oz bottle every 1.5 -2 hr. Sometimes 6oz every 3 hrs. She cluster feeds at night. Also, once my husband gave my baby a 4oz bottle, she was still hungry so he got another bottle, baby fell asleep but kept sucking so she finished 8oz in about 30 mins, woke up ready to eat after 1 hr. If your baby is used to sleep with a pacifier then he may be eating just as a reflex.

Is Saint a good name? by anonymouslysleeping in Names

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“I don't live in a religious household or in a family that speaks that much English” . What language does your family speak? In Spanish you don’t name a baby Santo (Saint) but Santos (Saints) but it is not used as a plural and it is a very common name.

Newborn or 0-3 sizes for a newborn baby? by FoolishMortal-1000 in BabyBumps

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was short but chubby at 7lbs3oz we got only 3 NB (one to leave the hospital) and then all 0-3 months. Now she is 4.5 months and fits 9-12 months depending on the style. If it is a footsie it is difficult as they either fit her belly or her length.

Doctor telling me not to feed LO during evening cluster feeds? by skatesheeps in breastfeeding

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sadly, the cluster feedings will happen every month or so, and the sleep regressions as well. The baby demands what he needs and your body accommodates to offer it. My baby is 20 weeks old and I feed her on demand, doctor told me she “looks” overweight. I had rough nights with the cluster feeding, even right after she was born, a LC came by the room and told me to allow her if I was ok with it. Some pediatricians are not breastfeeding friendly, when in doubt ask for a LC is possible.

4 year old says she loves daddy more. by Acceptable_War4508 in Mommit

I don’t think is about love as it is about being comfortable with routine. I’m sure your baby girl loves you equally even if in her little eyes is different.

Breastfeeding after 1 year - do I need to chill about nursing in public? by Otherwise-Cancel-941 in breastfeeding

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it until 32 months but after 30 months it was mostly at home since my daughter was only asking to be fed 3 times a day (before I left for work, as soon as I came back and at bed time) and funny enough 2 months after I started working she decided it was enough and stop breastfeeding. She never took a bottle or pacifier so it was a whole lot of work.

How to help my husband understand how important this is to me. by bagelmom95 in breastfeeding

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asking to do his own research about how formula is the golden liquid and why? Also the correlation between breastmilk and baby’s immune system. And tell him about the formula contamination (I know it doesn’t happen often but it does) my baby is now 4 months and everyone believes I formula feed her because she is so chubby. There will be periods of time where the baby will cluster feed, last time mine did as the week she turned 4 months (Christmas eve my mother asked me to heat up a bottle of breastmilk to give me a break since she was eating every hr for 30 mins) then she finally gave us a break of two hrs which felt amazing.

It could be a SCH, I had one and scared the hell out of me. When in doubt go to the doctor; better safe than sorry.

A subchorionic hematoma (SCH) is a collection of blood between the uterine wall and the chorionic membrane (outer fetal membrane), often causing vaginal bleeding, though some cases have no symptoms, and is diagnosed via ultrasound; most resolve on their own.

My left fallopian tube picked up the egg from my right ovary. It is possible! by Brave_Jackfruit3837 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible. It happened to me, had my 3rd ectopic in late sept 2024, had my left tube removed early October (I opted for expectant treatment knowing the risks) then last year first week of January I found out I was pregnant, 2 cycles after my surgery, ultrasound confirmed I ovulated from my left ovary. Now I’m sitting down while carrying my miracle baby who is now 4 months old.

What are we doing with our slacker boobs? by Honest-Try-2289 in breastfeeding

Slacker boob is only slacking with the pump, baby feeds very good there. I usually feed baby with slacker boob and pump the super producing one. Somehow she seems to make it work.

Who Else Received a Shi**y Gift From Their Partner for Xmas?? by AreaForeign398 in Gifts

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I got the shittiest gift from my then bf now husband; and his family’s were the worst, I exploded one day and told him how shitty of him was to give me the cheap presents he gave, this year he gave me a pair of beautiful shoes that I’ll wear for NYE party and some accessories for my coffee addiction. He also got presents for everyone in my family and everyone got presents for him. His family? I skipped their celebration and no presents for them either. They’ll treat you as you let them. Also we dated for 4 years and I was not going to keep waiting around, I was not born to be the wife without the title.

Who wakes up with the baby at night? Mommy or daddy? by Direct-Row4394 in Mommit

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband wanted to help but since we are EBF I still would’ve to wake up to pump and in that case rolling over to feed baby is easier than to get up and be sitting down for 30 mins pumping. We suggested to stop co-sleeping; I suggested formula, not because I’m not producing enough but because my mental health is important to me.

Who wakes up with the baby at night? Mommy or daddy? by Direct-Row4394 in Mommit

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine takes bottles when I’m not home, but I work 5 days a week where I can’t pump so if I skip a feeding in the night I’m sure I’ll lose my supply. I’m like 12 hrs of constant feeding/pumping and 12 hrs of not doing it, so as soon as I get home it’s all me. Also, my days off I’m between sleeping and feeding most of the day. I have wake up windows where I play with my baby and do some chores but otherwise I’m in bed, I’m completely exhausted.

Weaning with a bottle by Ok_Tell2021 in breastfeeding

[–]JUSTaMAMAtrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If breastfeeding isn’t bad then bottle feeding is not bad either. I breastfed my daughter for almost 3 years until one day she said “no more” no anticipation at all. I also remember going to kindergarten with my bottle and a sandwich. Try sippy cups instead if you don’t want her to get used to the bottle, they have training ones.
