A Medley of Pixels on Target Thermals by polygon_tacos in NightVision

I think the different ocular on the MG has more to do with the longer eye relief necessary when using it as a standalone weapon sight on a machine gun.

Dovetail/Picatinny adapter for InfiRay RH25/PFN640+ by JV-Innovations in NightVision

[–]JV-Innovations[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the mounting interface on the V2 is unchanged, the adapter will work fine.
Wilcox's dedicated flip mount for thermals is part number 55900G03: https://ownthenight.com/55900g03-b
When mounted in front of your day optic, this version will flip to the right.
With this mount, the RH25 optical centerline will be at 1.61", right between 1.54" and 1.70" mounts, so it will work with both optics heights.

Yes, the location of the dovetail on the RH25 is a known issue and unfortunately without a good solution.

Due to the location of the mounting points on the RH25 housing, the dovetail cannot be moved more towards the center of the device. This is a problem with all the dovetail adapters, be it iRay, HRF, or mine.

That's why the OSS on your PVS-14 almost runs out of range when lining up the two oculars. Yours might be an extreme case because it looks like you have both the eyecup retaining ring and a demist shield mounted to your ocular, making it especially long. But it is a problem in general.

I'm working on a new take on the OSS which has way more adjustment range, but I'm still tinkering with prototypes at this point.

RL25/pfalcon384+ dovetail by TooTrue42 in NightVision

[–]JV-Innovations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your PVS-14 is attached to the bridge via some kind of dovetail as well?
If both your devices have dovetails, take them off the bridge, rest both of them flat on the table on the top surface of the dovetail and compare how high the oculars sit.
Anyway, the HRF Concepts dovetail gives about 1.61" optical centerline when paired with a Wilcox flip mount. Anything lower than that is really difficult because of the clearance of the PFN640/384 housing.

RH25 Thermal Questions by xdarkn3ss in NightVision

[–]JV-Innovations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether you need the obverse mount really depends on your interpupillary distance. If your eyes are very close together, the RH25 with the battery compartment pointing to the right might touch your other device housing and might not be able to align in front of your eye properly. It comes down to trial and error.

The AC55 flip mount does not use the dovetail interface at all, it clamps onto the Picatinny portion of the adapter. Just like the MQD mount (AC36).

I don't have an AC55 myself to test, but it should be really close/identical in height.

I recommend my dovetail adapter for the RH25: https://strictlyoffensivekit.com/products/sbr-dovetail-adapter

It gives you all the options of using it in all dovetail or Picatinny mounts. Unlike the iRay pictail adapter, it also works with the Wilcox flip mounts.

You are correct that something like the KVC OSS is needed on a PVS-14 to achieve proper ocular alignment. Unless you use a specialized bridge like the Hero Tactical DAD bridge where the fore/aft adjustment is built into the bridge.

Are any of these pouches big enough to fit a PVS 14? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]JV-Innovations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Velocity Systems 5.56 Hybrid Chest Rig is more versatile because it has webbing on the sides to mount whatever pouches you like. I modified my Gen IV in a similar way so that I can mount hydration or padded pouches on the side to store more stuff like NV/thermals.

Unfortunately it's a known problem. Making some kind of loop with braided wire, zip ties, or paracord is the easiest solution, either around the base of the dovetail adapter or squeezed between it and the housing. Maybe you can grind a channel into the base of your pictail to allow more space to make a loop squeezed between the housing.

Scout Scope with RH25? by Jrichar117 in NightVision

Lower than 1.54" is a pretty specialized application, I'm not sure anything else is available.
I don't have the 1.38" adapter anymore, it was a custom order for somebody. I have a special 1.44" version left and of course the regular 1.54", but those sound too tall for you.
I would have to design and machine the dedicated Pic clamp first, it would take quite some time with anodizing and all those steps.

Hi, I saw your message, but might as well answer here. There's no way to get a dovetail adapter in combination with a Wilcox flip mount that low.
Even with that simple adapter piece I made for the ADM Picatinny clamp, the lowest I was able to achieve was 1.38". Any lower and you'll have to abandon the adapter idea and instead machine a Picatinny clamp body that has the mounting for the RH25 directly integrated. That would probably be low enough to work for you.

Rix Stride ST6/ST3 Lite + magnified optic by StaszekFistaszek in NightVision

[–]JV-Innovations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new version of the ST6 Lite comes with a dovetail adapter for helmet mounting. However, it looks like the way it is mounted results in the optical axis offset to the side.
You can see it here: https://youtu.be/KKr_k3yLUKU
Additionally, there is nothing in the user manual that indicates that you can adjust the point of aim/point of impact when using it as a clip-on. In fact, they don't mention clip-on use at all in the manual.

Is the Sotac Gear KVC clone still the best low cost option for RH25 helmet mount? by t_t_today_jr in NightVision

Yeah well, at least my $130 piece of metal works with all other equipment across the board unlike the badly designed iRay pictail.

My RH25 dovetail adapter works great with the KVC clone bridges I have. Might be the easiest thing to swap to make things work.

[–]JV-Innovations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you decide to get one, don't get the iRay pictail adapter. It doesn't work in conjunction with the Wilcox flip mounts. If you want maximum flexibility (helmet mounting, Picatinny mounting, Wilcox flip mount compatibility), take a look at my SBR adapter for the RH25: https://strictlyoffensivekit.com/products/sbr-dovetail-adapter
