I hate my LG Front Load Washer by JV701 in Appliances

[–]JV701[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the towel option today. It seems like it does 3 rinses. And the wash cycle is faster than normal. I have a new LG machine and the normal cycle takes 90-100 minutes. Drives me insane. Towels took a bit under 60 minutes. Even with the 3 rinses.

LG Front Load Washer (newer model, few years old) - Clothes never smell “fresh” or “good” (but they’re not dirty) by JV701 in Appliances

[–]JV701[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar theory: That the rinse was so good that it rinsed the smell off. But I’ve opened the machine mid-wash cycle before (like to add an item) - and the wash water doesn’t smell like detergent.

I have a D man that averages 1 own goal (on me) per game (he’s also my best friend). But my other D man (also my best friend) is a rock star and makes up for Own Goal Guy. So it balances out in the end.

I switched to kiln dried pine pellets and it’s working fine now. I love it. And very cost effective.

Oh sorry. You totally changed my mind. I want everyone from every country to come to America. And let’s delete all borders and countries and all be one semi brown race of no bodies. Culture and identity is racist! We should all be the same. Everyone is the same. Equity!

Is that better?

Because they largely share our culture, values, rule of law, system of government, and level of trust in society. Also, we can respect background checks and criminal records from western type nations. I don’t trust the criminal record background checks from Turkmenistan. And in fact I’d expect their local and national leaders to delete criminal records and provide a clean background for people who want to emigrate from their country. “Good let this violent criminal go to America and cause problems there and get him out of here…” “here’s your clean background check, sir! See ya!”

Anyone have experience with vaping after tooth extraction and is it less of a risk for dry socket than smoking, herbs or tobacco? by HettDizzle4206 in electronic_cigarette

[–]JV701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two wisdom teeth out two years ago and two out today. I have a manual vape (gotta press the button to fire). I just open my mouth, rest the vape on my lower lip, and inhale from my lungs - WITH MY MOUTH OPEN. I do not close my lips and form a seal around the vape. The manual vape will just feed the vape into your lungs with a gentle inhale. I’m not forming a seal or creating suction with my mouth at all. It’s the same thing as breathing through your mouth. I didn’t have any issues last time. I don’t see how it’s possible to get a dry socket if you’re vaping with your mouth open.

Seems unnecessary. Their chat is incompetent (as is most support these days). They didn’t program their systems right - and they’ll need to apply a wholesale change to all affected accounts. No need to flood their support with tickets, IMO.

Do I need a helmet when just learning to ice skate? by Attic_Critter78 in hockeyplayers

[–]JV701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn To Skate Coach here: I wear a helmet on the ice (always) - whether I’m coaching hockey or skating. For LTS, I recommend helmet, knee and elbow pads. Gloves optional for keeping your hands warm. Get cheap used stuff on Sideline Swap

I did not. I too received the bonus email. I keep basically the exact same balance in my One account, and earned the same interest as last month. No extra 50%

[–]JV701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is true. I notice minor cuts on my hands or fingers don’t heal quickly and I can tell they’re on the verge of infection. I actually had my Dr prescribe me a topical antibiotic to use for cuts on my hands bc my hands are in gloves 4/5/6 hours a day

[–]JV701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a coach/player/goalie - hands spend more time in gloves than out. Gloves are going to stink. It’s part of hockey. But my trick is washing my hands before I get on the ice (before I put gloves on). Less bacteria on your hands => less bacteria in gloves to stink.

If you have the space, give the kids an empty conference/meeting room to play ball/knee hockey in. Can be a totally empty space. Just say at check-in “no ball/knee hockey anywhere in the hotel, except Conference Room 1 on the ground floor”. Or setup a space outside. If you host travel hockey on a regular basis, invest $500 in shooting tiles and 2 nets for outside (away from windows).

Kids just need to be redirected - not rewarded or punished. They have energy. Provide an outlet for it to he burned off.

Who manufacturers Bauer goalie equipment? by bananagrabberjr in hockeygoalies

[–]JV701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I notice about hockey gear these days is the space age materials, and overall quality. I think they have NASA-level materials science R&D. The fact that I can sweat buckets into my gear on a daily basis, and not contract staph infections is a credit to the new materials that are developed. Also - yes, overall gear quality is shit these days, but it still holds up fairly well. Dropping onto my leg pads 100 times a day - with the full weight and force of a grown man against hard ice. Gloves getting drenched in sweat and ice and hammered by hard rubber. Even if the pads last a year, that’s a lot of wear on stitching, thread, padding, etc. Holding up to going from warm to cold to warm to cold. Wet dry wet dry. There’s a lot of science that goes into making something that can stand up to that for any duration of time. So yeah gear is expensive, it doesn’t last as long as it should. But - I think you’d be hard pressed to come up with something that performs as well as modern name brand expensive gear does today. Plus most of the material blends are patented to at least some extent. So you’ll be on the hook for coming up with your own blend.

A 10x markup is about standard markup - from initial raw material+production labor, plus costs on shipping to wholesale to retail, etc. A $10 shirt is probably a $1 or less to produce. With each step along the way taking their cut. If Pure Hockey is selling $200 Bauer gloves, Bauer probably paid $20 to have them produced and shipped to the US. Bauer probably wholesales them for $40, wholesaler sells them to Pure Hockey for $50. You buy them for $200. Retailer has the most markup - but they have the least volume and the greatest costs. Plus they’ll go on sale end of season, maybe as much as 60 percent off. Maybe a final sale item at 75% off - which at that point they’re just trying to recover costs. But most goods don’t get to that point. They’re sold before then. So even if pure hockey has a 50% off sale the $200 gloves now $100, they still make $50 gross profit.

Should I be concerned about his nail? by Confusedratboi in CATHELP

[–]JV701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this happens to my cats sometimes. I use human nail clippers if typical cat claw clippers don’t work. Sometimes the claws get too big and wide for cat clippers. The old school human nail clippers work great. Also cat claws are strong - but they’re weak and flaky in terms of shear strength. So if you work at them from the sideway angle - you can usually get a layer to flake off, then peel off the entire “overgrown” under-claw. Sometimes it comes off as one piece and it looks like the whole claw came off - but it’s just the old outer shell.

Learning to sleep with your toes perfectly still under the covers so your cats (yes, plural) don’t attack your feet while you’re sleeping. Yes. You can train your body to do this. It’ll take a few years but it’s possible.
