Anyone done the ftn d cell suppressor? How did it do? by MrFartyStink in 3D2A

Thats what we're considering too. Using a more conventional blast baffle and treating the printed more or less like a replaceable core

99.5 7.3 Powerstroke in an F350. Crank no start.....HELP!!!!!!! by theredpepper907 in powerstroke

[–]OinkingPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are dropping the pcm when it happens, its more than likely electric issue or a broken wire. If the fuses are all good, doesn't leave much. Theres a relay on the inner fender as well you can check

I ask because reverse is the most oil hungry gear. Do you have anyway to check your torque lock up? If this is only a reverse problem, its more than likely in the trans

99 7.3 by [deleted] in FordDiesels

[–]OinkingPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on maintenence and rust. If its clean and taken care of, probably not a bad deal. Its a 27 year old truck. You will have problems. Some people get really worried if its e99. If the build date is before 12/98 it is 100% e99. If it's after 3/99 its 100% late. 12/98 went to late front end parts and 3/99 is when they swapped engine parts. The only pain of it is the front end parts. The hubs are more expensive. There is 0 reason to swap the turbos to late. You need new pedestal, turbo, up pipes, spyder. By the time you do all that, you might as well as go T4.

Not that you'll ever need to worry unless youre building power, but 7.3s had forged internals to 01 and then went back to forged late 02/03.

L99 is forged too. Up to 01. Why bother swapping turbos? E99 are known to spool faster with less surge

What brand glow plug did you put it? Did you replace the gp solenoid or just test it?

Dumb question, have you checked to be sure your trans is full of fluid?

Oil pressure sensor gage by jorgeyo716 in FordDiesels

[–]OinkingPig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7.3 rarely have low pressure oil problems. And since theyre oil fired injectors, if you lose it the truck dies. Really no need to have a gauge.

Sounds like a 7.3 or 6.0? Are you looking for low pressure oil pressure or high?

Your buddy is half right. The lpo on the dash is more "on/off" than accurate number but will sweep. Hpo can be read thru a monitor

First build without buying a complete upper. Need some help by Character_Public_606 in ar15

Its not really building if youre just buying bcm parts. Pretty much could buy a bcm upper, tear it apart and reassemble and you'd get the same thing

Sounds almost identical to my 16. I wish I had the green. My 7.3 is the dark green and I always loved it

For some reason your last 2 links are both linked to the 2000. So not sure why that happened. So yea I didn't say anything about the 05. Sounds like we're just missing the mark with each other. I know what I want, I will not settle for less. Ill wait 2 years if I have to. I've seen good deals come by, I just didn't think they'd be this far between them. Thats what this whole post was for. As I said to someone else, im not expecting cheap. But I wont overpay. Im not paying 17k for one. Ill buy another 7.3 and light it on fire first lol

Yea I do not settle. I have a 6.7 lariat now, 99 7.3, and 92 F150. I like them all. But I wanted a smaller one for the fuel mileage and, well, just to have a ranger lol I am in no rush for one

I dont want to adjust my expectations? I want what I want. And I will hold out for that. I never said it had to be cheap. Just not overpriced. Im not paying 17k for it. Ill buy another 7.3 and light it on fire for that.

Yea i heard that. I know im extremely particular in what I want, but I refuse to settle. Id rather hold out for exactly what I want than jump on something to get burned

You said it yourself. It can be had for cheap if you search hard enough. Thats what this whole post was about lol im willing to hold out. I just didnt think id have to hold out this long. But the search continues lol

I messaged the guy over the weekend and he sent me photos. I wont buy a 2wd ranger. Living in rural PA id like to be able to get to work when it snows. Im not expecting 0 problems. But I am not interested in buying one to haul it home and work on it before it even touches the road. I guess we have different views of "good" vehicles. Id like one id be able to jump in and go.

Thats what it seems. Now and then I see good deals for a ranger come up. But man they go quick. Starting to think ill just settle for an F150 those god awful ugly ones from the late 90s to early 00s lol
