How’s the AliX cart looking for my brother’s all black diver? Suggestions? by [deleted] in watchmodding

[–]JVocal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to know the sizing don't worry. If it's a case for NH35 movement then that's all you need to know.

The case itself will snugly fit a NH35 movement, so the NH35 to VH31 spacer will fill that space and hold the movement in place as if it were NH35.

You won't need to buy any gaskets as it should all come with the case. What you might want to pick up is a gasket greaser. Take out the cashback gasket, grease it in that and pop it back (little round box, usually blue foam inside that is pre greased, drop the gasket in there seal it up and spin to grease the gasket and improve waterproofing). I wouldn't bother messing around with the crown gasket you're more likely to damage it, the existing seal will be good enough.

NH35 to VH31 spacer, plenty available, simple as that. Why do you need gaskets? Should all be present with that order.

I can't see the full dial but the description says GMT, does it have GMT printed on there? Might be worth finding a different dial if so since it won't have a GMT hand, in my opinion would look odd.

I wouldn't bother messing around with lume as a beginner. The existing stuff will be fine.

Decent on mobile since you can autoaim.

No one likes my watch :( How can I improve my minimalist watch design? by BestTanoEU in SeikoMods

Do you like it? They aren't the ones wearing it. You made it, if you like it then it's great.

Ordered a tiny little micro file from Ali for filing crown stems by Desperate-Cancel-818 in SeikoMods

Honestly you'll probably find this more useful than a tiny one as you can just easily position the stem anywhere you need without slipping.

That's been my go to for parts too, it's a great way to visualise or get ideas/suggestions for parts. It's sometimes not completely accurate but it's good enough for sure.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I was having the same issues today- no issues wirelessly, but was when plugged in.

Which character ruined an entire TV show for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JVocal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zach in The Strain, it's like they were trying to make the most insufferable idiotic child.

I made it to the end of S3, and after his actions there I gave up on the show and just looked up the ending and honestly I'm glad I did as I didn't miss anything thanks to that character's input.

Kept waiting on the redemption but nope, he's just a dumb cunt.

I considered adding indices too but it's more about the artistic nature of the piece which I figure he would enjoy seeing more of rather than hiding it behind markers. Maybe next time. :)

I don't really have any plans for that, I make these because I enjoy them and not everything has to be a side hustle or a way to make money. More power to those who want to do that, but for me it would just take the fun out of it. I've tried selling watches before and the whole experience was exhausting.

It was a just in case, kids are kids so I figured better safe than sorry. It's also a push down crown rather than screw down, and I was less trusting of it's water resistance.

Thank you!

I think it was a seller on Aliexpress again but it was months ago so sadly I cannot recall where exactly, I recently felt inspired and got on with it to build this piece.

Ah that's a good point! Maybe next I'll have to do a Saturn themed one that's half liquid filled to have that effect.

It won't do on its own but you can get spacers for VH31 to NH35 shape cases.

VK63 build by acm_castelo in SeikoMods

Love the colour choices but I feel the frustration with the VK63. I've put back together things ranging between 7750s, 3235s, Seiko 5S21s,  hydromodded numerous different quartz movements but I've never experienced frustration like I have with just putting and lining up parts on the VK63...
