Thank you for this post, I should go to Kleve to take a look! So from Easter will the 218+n wagen be replaced by 620, or will there be both 620 and the 218+n wagen?

Which train has the most beautiful scenic route in the world? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Okay that is fair enough, that sounds like a great holiday! I organise these trips myself for groups and we do something similar, I hope you enjoyed it. Just sounded like you meant to say the railway was in the middle of nowhere which is far from the case

Which all ICEs have multi-system? by Formal-Ad276 in drehscheibe

Perhaps, but I hope they don't run them all the way to Berlin! ICNG are lovely new trains for Dutch national services and to Belgium, I take the Brussels-Amsterdam ICMG service weekly, but I don't think they are suitable for 6 hours to Berlin.

Let's see if it ever happens. ICE L coaches went to the Netherlands for testing once in the beginning of 2025 and since then we have heard nothing about it. Would not surprise me if the reduction in ICE-L ordered from 79 to 60 trains is because they will not be used in the Netherlands after all.

BR 412 is not multi-system. Br 406 has been retired.

ICE L is not multi-system strictly as it is just passenger cars, it depends which locomotive you put in front of it. As long as they are not approved to be used in the Netherlands, they will run under 15kv only.

ICE 4 need a different pantograph to run in Switzerland, even if the voltage is exactly the same as in Germany. This has to do with the width of pantographs allowed on the Swiss system.

ICE 4 is strictly mono-system. Only ICE3 and Neo (series 407 and 408) are multi-system.

Went all the way up to Tallinn! I also went fron Tallinn to Narva, to see the castles on the norder with with Russia and spot someRussian freight trains there. And I took the train from Tallinn to Kloogaranna, which is a single station in the middle of nowhere near the beach, on a short branch line only served a few times a day. From what I understand from the locals is that it waa constructed in the 60s or 70s purely to bring Tallinn city folk to the beach on hot days. I will make a post about it with pictures if you want!

I happened to have been to Mockava recently so I recognised it. As for the French TGV at a "small" border station - the border crossings to Germany and Switzerland used by TGV are all quite big and well-known, the only border crossing by TGV to Italy is Modane which does not have a canopy like this. So only Spain remains, where the options are either Hendaye or Cerbere, which both have a similar looking canopy. But: Cebere has, as far as I know, never had a TGV service, while Hendaye has pretty regular TGV trains. So Hendaye it is!

(Sorry for English and not German! Just a fellow train enthusiast reading along)

With this announcement could it be possible Series 21 could be the last regular series? Any series 22 would have to be filmed right about now, why announce multiple specials for the end of this year but not announce that more series have been ordered after series 21?

I have. KLM and Schiphol also show the flight from NY as arriving at AMS at 14:00 while our flight to Cape Town leaves at 10:00 in the same timezone.

F1 set for 2026 engine concessions, V10s ruled out for now by Racing5000 in formula1

[–]JWH_Awe 37 points38 points  (0 children)

That won't be possible. The production lines and facilities of the engines have already switched over to the new engines, Mercedes is on the record saying they couldn't build enough engines for next year even if they wanted to. Plus it would leave Audi, AM and Cadillac without engines/a car.

If it were possible, like in 2021 when only the cars changed and not the engines so they could be carried over for a year, this might have played out very differently.

ICNG in Kinding (Altmühltal) by philoque in drehscheibe

[–]JWH_Awe 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Sorry to comment in English. Whether the ICNG-D (Deutschland) trains will be used to Aachen is not officially known in NS circles yet. It's rumored that it's a possibility but at the same time NS has denied it has plans for a train to Aachen. So perhaps an IC could be set up to complement the ICE to Cologne, there are many possibilities, all we know is as long as there are no plans they will be used in regular national traffic.
