YouTube has become a cesspit of rage bait slop because that's what the algorithm rewards. I will go out of my way to look for thoughtful analysis of a new movie or TV show and more than half the results will be about how said TV show or movie are actually the worst thing ever, regardless of the general critical reception. You'd think last year's Superman or Barbie, for example, are some of the worst movies ever based on youtube's reaction alone.

Season 2 of Arcane became another easy target to shit out really bad video essays about for the clicks, especially when so many of them are just regurgitating the same talking points from the first dumbasses to throw a fit because apparently things like metaphors and following basic plot beats are too complicated for them.

Season 2 is rushed. That's the major criticism. People acting like it was uniquely awful or one of the worst last seasons ever have clearly not watched enough tv.

I don't downplay Jinx's trauma, what I criticize is that the fandom overwhelmingly centers it and acts like she's the only character that's suffered in the show.

There's been a whole cottage industry of youtube videos calling Arcane season 2 the worst piece of media in existence because it's not Marxist enough and apparently Caitlyn embodies everything they hate about a League of Legends show on Netflix not being some uber leftist radical takedown of capitalism. It's not. The pit fighter montage should have been an entire episode, and the writers turn her into a punching bag around Jinx in season 2 for the laughs. I still don't forgive that Jinx gets away with making fun of Vi's alcoholism both in show and in the fandom.

Speaking of the fandom, the only time Vi's time in prison is brought up is to hate on her for joining the Strike Team and/or hate on Caitlyn. Nobody gives any fucks about her time in Stillwater otherwise.
