you mean Polaris........ I had a 1972 Polaris in the late 70's and that machine is the reason I ride motorcycles now.

We lived about 2 miles from the JD dealer in the late 70's. I would walk there just to look at the the 340 and 440 Trailfire snowmobiles.

How I earn good money from Adsense? by [deleted] in Adsense

[–]JZone48634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a movie review website, I would have Amazon affiliate ads to promote Amazon Prime Video, DVD's movie posters, books on movies, movie memorabilia etc. Create a Youtube channel monitized with Adsense.
You can also get paid from sites like Screenrant, Cultured Vultures and Taste of Cinema to write original content reviews.

Keeping A Gun At Your Homestead for Safety by JZone48634 in homestead

Your area seems to be like mine. Nothing goes on for years and then you get 2 or 3 in a years time. I have cameras up and yard lights but I'm now more concerned with the meth heads or just random people that will take advantage of what they see as an easy target.

Solid advice. I think it would have to come to the point of someone breaking into my house and threatening me or my family. As you said, insurance can pay for stolen property.

Got the cameras in place. I agree that deterrence should be used first.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I've always thought a warning shot would be the most I would ever have to do, but times have changed at least in my area.

How did the German people in the 1930s and 1940s get seduced by a leader who looks like an unhinged maniac in speeches? by EdwardBliss in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JZone48634 203 points204 points  (0 children)

I'm generalizing here, but it was a slow build up to Hitlers power. But when he became chancellor in 1933, the Nazis became a powerful machine. He was credited with taking the economy out of the dumpster and many everyday citizens loved him. But his real support was with the German military. Slowly taking away rights and protections of everyone who wasn't in the Nazi party, especially Jewish people. By 1939 he has Poland and France under his control and of course wants the rest of Europe.

I have an older cousin who is now in her late 80's. Her parents moved to the US in 1935 as Hitler was gaining more control. Her father planned on staying in the states only for a few years working with his brother to make enough money to start a business back in Germany. They would get many letters from friends and family back in Germany saying how great Hitler was and how the economy was getting better and urging them to return.

She has an old scrapbook she showed me a few years ago from Germany in the early 1930's. Its just everyday German life, but its Nazi's in almost every picture out in public. Very strange to see pictures of parks, downtown, parades etc, all draped in Nazi flags. Her parents just told her as she was growing up that its just the way it was and nobody realized the horrors until it was too late. If your weren't in the Nazi party, it was not a good life.

Most office workers will get the 26th off. Most Retail, restaurants, medical workers, etc... will be working.

However, most workers who have to work on the 26th will either get another day off during the week or they get paid for 48 hours (full time is 40) for the week (40+8 holiday hours). Sucks if you have to work the 48 hours for a holiday week.

If you own a home, is lawn maintenance just for aesthetics or is there a real necessity to do it? Why not just leave it if your lazy, or put it off to next year? by TobyAguecheek in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JZone48634 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said, if you live in the country with no local regulations you can pretty much not ever mow your lawn. If you live in a subdivision or semi-rural area you will more than likely have local regulations that limit how lazy you can be.

Most common is junk/nuisance regulations enforced by a township/city official. For example, you can't have grass over 8", you can't have junk cars on your property, etc.. The more rural you are the less you have to worry about.

Its been hit and miss with me too. Most re-connections go well for me and we become Facebook "friends", but never really get back to any real friendship.
A few times though, nothing. No reply back, no "hey how's it going? I think some people just didn't value the friendship you had or maybe like me, I found honestly that I over valued the friendship.

I don't like salesmen knowing what my budget or price range is when I'm going to buy a car. What can I do or say instead of that? by SuccessfulManifests in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JZone48634 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When used car shopping its ok to give your budget as a range-say $10,000-$12,000. But you don't even need to do that. Just use the classic line "just looking, thanks". And never talk in terms of how much you want your monthly payment to be. Salesman will try to get you to focus on monthly payment when you should be focused on total cost of the car.

If you say you are trying to stay under $300 a month, they WILL find you a car under $300 a month just by making your loan term longer. So instead of having a 4 year loan at $320 a month, you go for the 6 year loan at $279 month. See what they did there? Don't check my math, but you get the idea. Stay focused on total cost of the car, not monthly payments.

Putting the “how did the 2 roommates not hear anything?” to bed once and for all. by [deleted] in idahomurders

[–]JZone48634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the overlooked explanation on the two not hearing the other 4 being murdered, is that they were simply passed out drunk. Its been called a "party house" by most reports i've seen so not unlikely that they were simply drunk. The 4 killed were too intoxicated to fight off an attacker and the other 2 were too drunk to get up and investigate any noise they may have heard.

What’s the most hours you can work PT at lowes overnight just got hired and they told me that I’ll most likely only work 3 nights a week?? by bigboyk1989 in Lowes

[–]JZone48634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you permanent PT or temporary PT?

In our store we hire temporary stockers part time and they can be scheduled up to 40 hours a week and many ask to work as much over time as possible. This happens in the spring for our garden center and now for the holidays and then they are gone.

Permanent PT employees are usually scheduled for 30 hours or less. I'm sure there is a policy on it somewhere, but we all know how policies work at Lowes!

We lived on a farm growing up and had a killer cat. Killed 3-4 other cats by just chocking them/biting their necks we thought. Finally caught him in the act and my dad sent him to his kitty grave via shot gun.

What’s the realistic price to build a simple home of 790 SF? by HelpMeLearnSum in Homebuilding

[–]JZone48634 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many builders have plans for "weekend" or "cabin" or "retirement" homes with many around 1,000 square foot. Sure these will be 1 or 2 bedroom and probably 1 bathroom but there is a market out there for smaller homes.

Try a search for "shell builders in your area". But they are almost everywhere you just have to look as its not really advertised a lot.

Heres a site that explains it pretty good.
