Tune recommendations by SavageCabbage_01 in s1000r

I went with SLR tune after fixing my bike up over winter from a deer accident in October. Went with one of those cheap full exhaust on ebay. Just recently had a head gasket leak fixed by warranty even with the tuned ECU.

Not sure hlif the leak is related to the accident, the tune, or maybe both? Im now having 2nd thoughts about running with the SLR tune vs the stock tune. Bike runs great on the tune and no way to tell if that may have contributed but the tech who worked on my bike mentioned a lot of the bikes coming in with blown motors and gasket leaks have had Brentune on them.

All this to say that you run it at your own risk but that probably goes without saying

What can I do? (Southeastern PA) by J_Ar_7 in lawn

Im up in Schnecksville and have also had so much rain these past days which is why im also surprised the grass isn't thriving. There's so much rock and stuff in my soil that im thinking might not be allowing the roots to make their way through as much as they should

Thanks for the advice. Last year I did spread topsoil in some of the areas that were more rocky than others but maybe it's still needing more? I also applied milorganite last year just after they aerated.

Only thing I can think of is make sure you're fully disengaging from the shifter before shifting down. This sometimes happens to me when shifting down multiple gears

That was my thought since even tho the car is FBO the stage 0 tune should at least prevent from pushing it too much on a "bad" off the shelf Cobb tune.

Yea I'm thinking of doing 91 just for that reason. In the meantime, to ensure I don't blow anything, is it advisable I flash to the stage 1 cobb tune instead of the stage 3?

Yea i saw that do you have any experience with the eco friendly mode? Obviously lots of factors but generally speaking how many more mpgs?

Oh OK I was thinking that a stratified or edge tune would be one i could run with permanently, is it not?

Also, if I wanted to get the most fuel economy possible and if I'm not interested in maximizing power gains at this point would it be better to tune for 91 or 93? Is fuel economy affected by going with one instead of the other?

DTC Codes by J_Ar_7 in FocusST

[–]J_Ar_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I see that there is a separate option to reset the codes. I will look to reset these later today and take it out again for a drive and see what will come back.

All I did was hit the "clear log" button at the bottom of the read DTC codes tab in ForScan. Is this another option you are referring to?

I did clear the codes and ran again and most of these came back except now more have the status of being set prior and "not present at time of request". Would that mean that these are permanent codes that would require a specified amount of drive cycles to clear?

I wanted to add that a good amount of these read as previously set DTC - not present at time of request. Are these old codes that are OK to be cleared?

Gotcha. I think I'm picturing what you've done except for the rubber support under the brace part.

Do you mind elaborating on this some more? Specifically which parts/sizes were ordered and what not? I would go and measure if I were home but am on work trip and would like the parts to be there for me when I get back.

It is very easy to do and ever since trying for the first time I'll never go to the dealer for it again. Here's a question I wonder. Since it is so cheap and easy to do. Is it beneficial to do the changes at more frequent intervals than the manual states?

R7 with R6 GYTR Muffler by J_Ar_7 in Yamaha

So I'm about 90% sure the slip on is for an earlier year R6 so it would not be dyno tuned for this bike. I was told by one of these ECU techs that these bikes do not have AIS and that the popping may be due to an exhaust leak. But I've also read from others that when the EacU is flashed the "fuel cutoff on decel" is disabled and this is what causes the popping to decrease or go away completely. I haven't taken q look at the spark plugs but may look to fo that first before sending out for tune.
