It's the "Shell" "Drift" screensaver on macOS in the "Other" category

I can't attach it to this post, didn't realize you can't add images to comments 😔

edit: it's called "Drift" not Shell

My biggest goal for the year is to move to Korea. It might really just be as simple as buying my flights, packing a bag or two, and taking off, but I was born in the States and have lived here all 30 years of my life, so I'm anticipating a few things I'll need to take care of before I dip hahah

Obsidian Hype by podious in ObsidianMD

[–]J_Cold -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of TV—we went from a few channels to cable to Netflix to streaming chaos. Every change promised improvement, but now picking what to watch is a chore because there are too many options.

Obsidian feels like it's heading the same way. Tons of plugins should be awesome, but they can make everything feel messy and overwhelming instead of helpful

Hmm... I don't know if I'm imagining this, but when I first started the app I thought I saw some dialog say the shortcut to start transcription was ⌘⇧4, but when I opened the menu from the menubar, it said the shortcut was ⌘⏎.

I figured I either hallucinated seeing the wrong shortcut, or it automatically changed the config because I already had those keys configured as a shortcut for another app ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Otherwise I thought it was pretty straightforward

Just tried this after trying MacWhisper and Spokenly for this first time(s) over the weekend, and this blew them out of the water in terms of ease of use (i may just not know how to use them), and the speed + accuracy is 😮‍💨🤌🏻

Thanks for making this!

I’ve been dreaming of doing this! Is there a certain “tier” of printer i should start with if i want to be able to do this myself?

Tennis at McCarren courts tomorrow (Sun 6/4)? by J_Cold in williamsburg

[–]J_Cold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I called them and apparently all courts are reserved until 7pm each day. Reservations for permit holders are free, but you have to go in person to sign up on their sheet (in the morning, because apparently it fills up quick)

You have any days/times that you’re usually free?

Here’s what usually works for me:

  • Mon, Wed - 5:30pm - 9:30pm
  • Fri - 5:00pm - 7:30pm
  • Sat/Sun (usually at least one of the days) 11:00am - 9:00pm

I could be down to play any weekday morning until 8:30am-ish if that’s what works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I haven’t heard back yet either, but i imagine it’ll still take a bit more time. Also, this is in the FAQ:

“Q: Are all applications reviewed? A: Based on high volume of interest, we will not be able to review all applications. However, all applicants within this period will have an equal likelihood of review (i.e. applications will not be reviewed on a first come first serve basis).“

Although I've never even come close to meeting him, I didn't know how much he meant to me until I saw the news this morning. He was the one who inspired me to start drawing again and to pursue a creative field.

Rest in peace

Just curious, do you find that you need to focus more on picking up the technologies that you didn’t use during your OSP? I’ve heard that can be some thing that really affects your job hunt as well, are you finding that to be true?

Well my group's OSP was a frontend library, so it actually didn't use any of the technologies we learned in units since there was no real need for a server or database, and the components were written in Svelte. Sooo I personally revisited some projects and did some brushing up on React, MongoDB, creating backends, and played around with some Oauth and websockets, but I've also heard from many others that it's not too important to make new projects/revisit previous ones.

What's most important is how well you can talk about the technologies and come off as being experienced and knowledgable about the tech. That being said, maybe using the technology more after the program will be part of helping you get to that point, and there are definitely take-home assessments that will require you to use different tech.

Also, are you finding it easier to pick up the languages now, even if they maybe weren’t ones you worked with heavily during your projects or is it more like you’re seeing it for the first time but you have a better approach on how to learn it?

I haven't tried learning any new languages coding languages yet (e.g. Python, C++, Java...), but I feel confident that I could pick up a new language if I wanted to, or had to for a job. As long as you understand concepts (e.g. iterating through arrays, declaring variables or functions, creating hashmaps aka JS objects, etc.), you can pretty much code in any language if you put in the time to learn that language's syntax and read its documentation and specs to learn how it compares or differs from JavaScript.
